AON is an IPA that has everything you could want in one, if what you want is a hop sandwich. It's a 7.7% Simcoe and Columbus delight.

draft pour into pint glass. semi-hazy burnt orange / light amber appearance. nose is as dank as it is juicy. somewhat piney. taste follows. equal parts west coast dank/pine and east coast juiciness. medium-full mouthfeel. really good IPA. midwestern for sure. perfect mix of west coast and east coast.

16 oz can pours a bright orange hazy color, nice thick head, clings to the glass. Aroma of citrus and pine resin. This IPA is very balanced malty with a great hop bite. Its a bitter one but delicious!

16 oz can into Boulevard Smokestack snifter.
2nd Shift stopped dating their cans now apparently which deters me from buying much of their product outside of St. Louis. No stickers on the can carriers either.
I have no idea how old this is, but I will have an inkling once I review it.
(Edit : it's fresh)

Pours a rather traditional looking copper amber body with light haze and a tall rocky creamy head of 2 fingers, creating a dome in the middle and lots of glop on the sides as it recedes. Quite a sight.

Aromas of honey, caramel malt, grapefruit, passion fruit, a little zippy melon, slight perfume, and apricot.

Flavor is heavy on caramel malt and pine, very old school IPA, with traces of honey, dark toast, dry grass, grapefruit rind, Christmas tree water, hot alcohol, and a hint of bubble gum. Personally everything I dislike about an IPA. Rinse my tongue.

Feel is resiny and sticky to a fault and the oils attack the palate like crazy. Moderate carbonation, more heat than there should be.

Overall, this is the kind of IPA that turned me off of IPAs completely for a long time until the haze craze came along. As the database suggests, this is absolutely a 2011 IPA, perhaps even earlier, and is unashamedly brash, harsh, and palate scraping while not imparting any freshness or fruitiness. It is a caramel and Christmas tree bomb that destroys your palate completely within the first few sips. I guess the saving grace is that it does not taste faded in any way so at least I had a fresh can to try.

If you are a fan of old school IPA, definitely give this a try, but my rating, in a rare moment, may be biased a little as I do not like these kinds of IPAs at all. Edit : The 1 overall here is for the brewery requiring clot shot cards to sit in their establishment. I'll never again grace their doorways or buy their beer after this experience.

Price paid : $12.99 / 4 pack
Would buy again : definitely not

Look: It pours amber and somewhat cloudy. Head retention is good.

Smell: It has aromas of floral, pine, and stone fruit. There are also very low fruity esters.

Taste: There flavor are stone fruit with floral and pine. There are also some fruity esters that are cherry like. There are low bready and caramel elements as well.

Feel: It has a medium body with moderate bitterness that is smooth, without the sharp edges.

Overall, a very flavorful beer with plenty of balances complex combinations.
