EGG is another IPA that we came up with. All you need to know is over 3 lbs. per barrel of Columbus, Amarillo and Citra.

Poured a golden-orange body with a decent head and one-finger head along with lace ring down the glass and spider patches. Aroma has notes of white grapefruit and tangerine along with notes of tropical fruit. Smooth, sticky, fuller body with a good amount of malts in beer that balance well with grapefruit sweetness and an herbal, almost dirty hoppy dryness on the finish. An enjoyable slow sipper that is worth checking out.

16 oz can, thank God this is my last 2nd shift. I can't read the date, it was dated sometime in the 21st century I suppose. They can't even stamp their dates correctly.
Ellipsis glass.
Hazy blonde with a creamy head of 2 fingers, stays around for awhile leaves a little lace.
Smells like perfumey grapefruit with a little orange juice (people say OJ, why?). Some caramel and pale malt that only the best reviewers like myself could pick up on (yessir!!!). Some floral notes also that once again, only people like me could pick up on.
Flavor is bitter. Too much ground up hop leaves and hop dust, despite the can saying that it's not bitter. Well 2nd Shift, you kinda fudged your description there, didn't ya? Caramel and pale malt. Orange peel. Grapefruit peel. Mandarin orange. All eclipsed by the hop dust.
Feel is kinda juicy and acidic but mostly hard water and resinous. Rocky carbonation. Medium alcohol heat.
Overall, it's a good beer but I can't support them any longer. Go woke, go broke! The 1 overall is for their woke agenda they shove down your throat and at the brewery that literally nobody asked for. Nobody likes that shit unless you're a psychopath. Everybody knows this. Considering I spent about $500 on them every year before Corona, that's a big hit to their inventory. Eat a dick. Officially my last 2nd Shift beer, thank God. Whewza.

16 oz can pours a bright orange hazy color, nice thick head, clings to the glass. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit and pine resin. Very balanced IPA , not as bitter as Art of Neurosis. Almost perfect in my book!

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a gorgeous slightly hazy rich golden-amber, with a brief off-white head. Initial impression is fairly bitter pine needles, with notes of floral hops, citrus, pepper, and a slight earthiness. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is pine resin with underlying citrus, fading to a distinct bitterness on the back of the tongue. Interestingly, this profile changes as it warms, with honeyed malts nicely offsetting the initial pine and bitterness. I've tried a lot of IPAs, and this one is really difficult to get a read on. It's good, but not great, but I really like it.
I just noticed that this is my 900th beer, and El Gato Grande is a worthy holder of that honored position. I wish I had another one to try on a different occasion - I kind of hate to score this on a single tasting!

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on January 25, 2018. Brewed with 3 lbs. per barrel of Columbus, Amarillo and Citra. Solid IPA that goes down smooth.

it kind of always seems like the 2nd shift folks dont ever take their stuff too seriously, they are the opposite of pretentious in how they present their beers, and i really groove with that, its cool and uncommon, especially since their beer is at the top of the heap! this ipa is awesome, just ever so slightly hazy from the tap into a tulip glass, with a light orange glow and a tall white lace head, really pretty beer. aroma is pine and sap and forest, really an earthy freshness to this, very northwestern, must be the colombus. i get the softer citra too, but less of it in the nose. some neat honey type malt at the core of this too, giving it a little natural sweetness for a moment and also a nice round medium body, a nice platform for the hops, and a necessary balancing agent later on, as the bitterness really ramps up on this beer as it moves along. citra more prevalent in the flavor than it is in the smell, and the pine is still strong. a peach juice fruitiness comes in for a second, grapefruit rind, and honey, quite a complex little beer! great carbonation, drying towards the end, and quite complete, a long flavor trajectory and the right mouthfeel for it, really carefully honed in beer, and deserving of high praise. always stoked to drink beer from these guys, they are one of the best of the entire midwest!

Pours a clear golden-amber with two fingers of foamy head on top. Good retention, but not much lacing left behind. Aroma is sugary, with citrus, and floral hop notes. Flavor profile is citrus, pine, spruce, and floral hops with earthy, biscuit malts underneath. Despite the sugary sweet aroma, this beer doesn't taste very sugary. Mouth feel is medium-thick, with a fizzy, grainy body that really gives it a nice, filling texture. Overall, despite a little mis-match between the aroma and flavor profile, this beer provides quality notes all around.
Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of orange peel and pine. Nice caramel sweetness good piney bitterness with a citrus kick.
