Don't know what to call it besides a Brett Beer. This one gets aged for 3 months in oak barrels with Brettanomyces Lambicus, a cool yeast that gives this beer a wonderfully pretty aroma and flavor that everyone better like or else I'll look you up and teach you a lesson.

12oz can, dated 08.24.2022, poured into a stemless wine glass.

The beer pours a cloudy straw color, honey and amber hues with a fizzy white head that rises about a finger high and dissipates immediately yielding no lace. The aroma is nice, very tart and Brett forward, buggy, tart berry fruit, apple cider, pale dough, mineral water, lemon and wildflower. The flavors are nice, lots of lemon tartness, bretty and buggy acidity, apple cider, pale grain, wildflower, and mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively, bubbly medium body that finishes with a crisp and tart bite.

Verdict: A nice Brett Beer from 2nd Shift Brewing. Very tart, very bright, expressive, delicate and sessionable.

Pours yellow with a light fog to the transparency. Head is two fingers of white foam. Aroma is twangy and tangy, hitting notes of oak, lemon zest, and grassy, stone. More mild notes of green apple and banana pepper arrive late in the profile. Flavor profile starts with green apple, then builds with lemon zest, banana bread, nutty malts, stone, and oak. It's tangy, with a mild tartness and low acidity. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture starts fuzzy, but breaks down to an uneven silt at the finish. Overall, tangy, light, modest, and refreshing. An approachable saison available in cans.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 12oz can. Packaged 6/1/21, consumed/noted 7/22/22. Reviewed from notes.

From an aluminum can, this brew is a very hazy straw color with a very slim head. The aroma has a lot of lemon peel, a bit of fresh cut grass, and mixed fruit notes. The taste is dry, tart, and has a little underneath funk. Medium in body. All in all, this is a solid beer.

after a good while of them not having quite the right yeast strain katy is back on the shelves and now in my glass. a slightly cloudy, very yellow brew with a decent little white head that faded immediately and left nothing behind. the nose on this is super lively and refreshing, lots of lemon, some stone fruits, an almost white wine scent, a slight hint of breadiness and a touch of just straight yeast goodness. really what i was expecting and a bit more. the flavor profile is quite similar but runs all smoothly together. hits with some pale malts and a tinge of sweetness and then moves to a more funky territory, never quite hitting full on brett explosion. the lemon, grape and other fruitiness comes on the back palate and leaves a very refreshing zing in the mouth. no flavors are really overpowering or show too much on their own but really just blend nicely into a strong profile. it's quite light, carbonated well and lingers forever. been a while since i had this and damn do i love it all over again.

A: Pours a lightly hazy pale golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint lemon yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy foamy bright white head that slowly reduces to a small to medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of white wine, green grapes, and lemon citrus with a light amount of oak notes. Light aromas of pale + wheat malts with a light amount of earthy funky brett.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of slightly earthy brett funkiness. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of white wine, green grapes, and lemon citrus with hints of oakiness. Light tartness lingers through the finish.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and enjoyable. Definitely refreshing and worth grabbing again though the brett is a little more subtle and the barrel aging influences show a little more than some others.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color. It poured with a short white head that quickly died down, leaving a thin collar around the edge of the glass and some streaks of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of sourness are preset in the nose along with hints of citrus.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a slight amount of sourness with hints of oak from the barrel aging.
M: It feels light-bodied and faintly tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a very subtle about of sourness and would be a good selection for someone who is first getting into sours.

Can from the brewer himself. Pours a gorgeous amber red with a decent off-white head. Initial impression is a very tart ale - almpst like drinking a carbonated white wine. Mouthfeel is pretty light; carbonation is higher than I like. Finish is astringent and tart. I'm not a wild ale fan, so I probably won't be revisiting Katy.
