Very Good
Notes: An original from our First and Last Chance line of I.P.A.s, this American classic was dry-hopped with Centennial this time around. Named for the saloon in Oakland where Jack London (one of our favorite writers) was known to enjoy a cold one while penning notes for Call of the Wild and The Sea Wolf.

On tap at the pub...Poured a medium peach with some nice off white head. Forms a nice cap, good lacing...A nice of aroma of citrus, pine, and banana? Light, but pleasant...The taste is lighter as well but very sessionable. Light hops, yeast, a little citrus. Easy to drink but that's mostly because not a ton of flavor or hops.

I would drink this again.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 4oz taster glass.

A - Served with a finger of eggshell foam that settles to a thick collar and thin cap. Lots of sticky lace is left behind. The body is a slightly hazed pale golden color.

S - Citrus zest, some pine, a hint of light cattiness. Pale sugary malt backbone.

T - Taste has more yeastiness to it, and the hop flavor isn't as present as the aroma. Very mild bitterness in the finish. A slightly above average IPA that probably deserves more of a 3.25 at this stage.

M - Medium-light body, medium-low carbonation. Very refreshing, with a dry finish and an oily resinous residual feel. No obvious alcohol.

D - As a house IPA it's solid, although I prefer Flossmoor's Rail Hopper. I'd certainly revisit this one if they tweak the recipe down the road. Certainly easy to drink with the pleasant texture, low bitterness, and soft carbonation.
