On-tap poured into 16oz glass.

A: Pours a golden amber with a thin white head that leaves a spotted cap with minimal lacing.

S: You get some caramel malts coming through the nose with some hoppy-citrus scents.

T: A surprisingly hoppy marzen. Light while loaded. Bready character with an overpowering abundance of hops with faint caramel malt.

M: Medium body with a hop bite and good warming. Nice mouth coating and finish. Lacked the "chewy" characteristic of octoberfests.

O: A unique marzen with its hoppy character and near red ale hop bite. It still packed the traditional caramel malts making it a good session beer. Definitely worth a try.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 4oz taster glass.

A - Again, filled to the brim. A thin cap of foam lingers, and leaves behind splotchy lace. The body is a transparent dark golden color.

S - Bread and toasted grains, fairly malt-forward with some fruity citrus character as well. There's some herbal hoppiness, as well as a light phenolic note.

T - Bread, toasted grains, a bit of sugary sweetness. Light herbal bitterness, but otherwise it's straightforward lightly sweet malt. Again, pleasant, but understated.

M - Medium body, grainy texture, smooth and juicy. Lower carbonation and a clean finish.

D - Nothing special - I think I preferred this by a very small margin to the Revolution offering. Solid take on the style that won't disappoint nor will it wow you.

Served in a nonic pint glass at the brewpub.

Starting my day off right with an O-Fest at Haymarket. This stuff pours a clear amber topped by a finger-and-a-half of light cream-white foam. The nose comprises mild toffee, very light orange zest, and light grass. The taste holds notes of earthy toffee, grass, greens, and a barely perceptible twinge of orange rind. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, a solid O-Fest. It's nothing to get excited about, but it's generally enjoyable.

Poured from tap. Pours an amber color with a nice head.

Balanced aromas of crackers, grains, some citrus and noble hops. Everything is in place, but it isn't the deepest either.

Medium body with a nice feel. It is lacking somewhat on the mid and finish along with notes of crackers, noble hops and some citrus tones as well.

This is a solid Oktoberfest beer. Not necessarily amazing, but still good with nice balance across the feel and aromas.
