last visit aug 2012:
The selection is way up to 15 some days.
Its still a clique place, but friendly. Meaning when they are slow they will chat, but if their buddies show up.

Then just be thankful you get served, of course if you a young pretty female your review will be different, lol. Anyway its not a great place to hang out, but once your drunk anyplace is great to hang out I guess.

The beer ranges from really good to so so. of course it caters to hop heads.
I understand its my problem but I just want a standard porter, and Standard PA, oh well I keep coming back every now and then hoping.

Still it worth trying, its the best brewery in town but that is still not saying much.
Prices are decent. Edit: not the best anymore.

Was at the grand opening, which was a mad house. circa 2010
we been back twice since then. The tap room is to be frank, is kind of stale and sterile. I start with the bad and end on the good. the open air picnic area is better than the tap room.

Atmosphere: the last visit, the bartender had a phone plugged in to give us some Pandora. Usually its bland, no music, they got wifi I guess if your bring it with you its a great place, hell I do that @ home and save cash. You think its a brewery how about special beer, 1 offs, casks, cheaper prices but nope. they all need to visit Cigar city and learn from the best in Florida.

The bad: parking. you park your car and prey your car is there when you leave. to say its in a dodgy part of town is a understatement. I been hit up for money twice on leaving the place, its sad, but they need to fence in and pave the parking. If it rains get ready to get muddy.*AUG 2011: I was told they have gotten security now, one hopes so.

the good part: if your a hop head this is the place for you if you don't mind overpriced 14oz drafts, you think @ the brewery the beer be cheap, but you be wrong, AND while at grand opening the stout was a full shaker pint, now they claim its somewhere between 7.5% and up ABV, (no1 knows for sure). anyway you get a half pour of that now. again if you love hoppy west coast beers this place is in your wheel house, me I was hoping for something different brewery wise. I was hoping for Belgian like beer, if you are don't waste your time here, all the beers are over hopped for the style IMHO.

AUG 2011: anyway the prices are now 4 bucks a pint so that is good, for most of the beers anyway. the Saison was not bad and not as hoppy, the alt was also semi balanced.

Service: @ the bar well since there were only 4 or 5 folks there it was good.
AUG 2011 we opened the place so service was as good as it gets.
But as 5pm happened it go so crowded service was slightly off until the extra bartender showed p.

value: well @ 4/5 + a 14 oz pint its the same rip off every other bar in town has
EDIT was
OVERALL: best tap room in town atm, beers will hopefully get better and better.
Since aardwolf, its my #2 2015 edit.

I wanted to like this place. It’s a cool building, the layout inside is nice, and the vibe seemed pretty good. Though I was there on a Jaguars game day so it probably isn’t usually so rowdy/obnoxious. Another positive is that the food was pretty good! But in the end, this brewery is extremely disappointing because, well, the beer just isn’t good! It’s astoundingly mediocre, especially for a brewery with a local reputation. The actual quality of the products seems up to the standard, but the quality of the beer is lackluster. Nothing I’ve had from them so far has been remarkable. All their canned offerings are bland, as well. Fun place for a few beers with friends but I don’t plan on returning.

V - Downtown Jacksonville, which isn't my favorite place to be, but the brewery itself was very nice. The inside was clean and the atmosphere was very laid back.

Q - The beer was very good and cold.

Ser. - The service was good. Nothing to write home about, but definitely not bad.

Sel. - They have a lot of beer on tap. Everything is brewed in-house, which makes sense as it is a brewery. If you're looking for a place that has a lot of different breweries, this is not that place.

Food - Not amazing, but not bad either. The burgers are fine and go well with the beer.

Definitely worth stopping by before/after a Jags game, as we did. Was insanely busy given the post-game crowd, but still enjoyed the two pours we had. Some decent selection, but many were pale ales/IPAs and no really interesting/creative offerings (ie: barrel aged beers, sours, etc.). Would go back but wouldn't go out of my way.

Laid back beer hall style with a large central bar. Wasn't crowded at all for a Friday night, which was surprising, but it was January and kind of cool. Food was pretty good, order at the window and they give you one of those vibrating disc things for when it's ready. Prices were very reasonable for food and beer. Wish the stools were a little more comfortable, or maybe they don't want me drinking for 3.5 hours? Definitely come back here.

Sadly, easy to miss. And the entrance isn't a standout either.
Darker than most, smaller, as well. More of a neighborhood hangout feel.
The beer is good, th8ugh. And the staff if friendly and knowledgeable.
Worth the stop since you'll be going to, or coming from, Bold City about 3 blocks away.

Cute place. Like 18 beers on tap of good variety. Beware the neighborhood...

Vibe: Dark and dreary. As one user noted, "outside it looks like you might get stabbed."

Quality: Beers are fresh. Nothing to complain about here.

Service: Service was great.

Selection: They had a great selection of their brews. No outside beer at all - which is odd.

Overall: Despite the vibe, I'd stop by here again to give their seasonals a try. It's a 4 minute walk from Bold City. They definitely have a bigger selection of seasonal and specialty brews than Bold City. However, the experience is lacking. I was really disappointed to spend $8 on a sampler coming from Bold City where samplers are free your first visit. They also did not give tours without an appointment - Lame.

Outside looks like you might get stabbed. Inside was surprisingly comfortable. Plus 1 point for having an amazing bottle of Tres Brujas available. Minus 1 point for not letting me buy it to go.

For now, a serviceable taproom with not a lot of extras. However, there is a great variety of small batch beers to sample. I can't wait for there new place to open hopefully sometime in 2015.

Not a fan of this place. Beer is nothing special and They charge for you to taste their beer where as a GOOD micro brewery allows you to taste their selections on your first visit. Not the case here.
