I've visited here since it was Virginia Beach Brewing Co. and still have my kolsch glasses with the original logo. I'm remiss with my review for sure as I think this brewery is one of the few breweries between VA Beach and Richmond that flies a bit under the radar; Alewerks in Williamsburg is the other brewery -- perhaps Reaver's "sister brewery". Although I'm guessing Alewerks production is significantly higher. I digress.

Cool, small brewery that is a bit off the beaten path. If you are at Young Veteran's, it's around the corner. If you are at New Realm, it's less than a 10 minute drive. And compared to both, this is really the place you need to be. Chill atmosphere, definitely a place for locals/regulars. With that said, though, I've never had a bad beer here in the eight or nine years I've been stopping in when in town. Service is always friendly and efficient. Typically they have something for everyone, from session IPA to funky sours (which are pretty lit -- and I'm not a fan of sours or funk) to smooth stouts.

If you are in VA Beach and want to try something that is not a fly-by-night craft brewery, check this place out. They've expanded over the years but not in a way that they've compromised on quality brewing. Clean fermentation when needed, funky when needed. Almost like they know what they are doing. Cheers to this legit small brewery in Hampton Roads!

In an industrial park but easy to find. Seemed busy in the parking lot when I arrived but most of the folks were at tables so I bellied right up to the bar. Small single room atmosphere with a bar seating maybe 15 and a bunch of tables behind that. Well within 20 minutes they were slammed but the staff did a killer job seeing to everyone that's for sure-and still managed to keep an eye on my little self.

Great selections to be made-2 IPAs, a barleywine, imperial stout, milk porter, alt, etc and at least a half dozen sours. People were really enjoying EVERYTHING it seemed. I had a flite of 5 beers and a pint of imperial stout. That and 2 glasses to go was all of $20.

Everything I had was very good to excellent. Of the 3 breweries I hit in VA Beach I'd rate this number one. Great stuff all in. I have it on the radar for my next trip.

Ridiculously underrated sour/barrel program. Really putting out some quality stuff. $16-17 per 750 of fruited sours is a bargain. Highly recommended.

I'm not a VA Bewch local, so I can't speak to what the people are into there. The tasting room seems to have a lot going on stylistically, maybe a little too much in a small space. But i don't really have much negative to say, Justin was a fantastic host, arguably my favorite sour program in VA, and a well varied, excellent selection. Great spot

This is our favorite brewery. The vibe is awesome - low key and mellow. We know all the staff (and love them) and they're know their beers. There's an outside area to chill in the nicer weather. Always a dog or two hanging around to love on.

As far as the beers, Reaver has a sour beer that can't be beat. Year round, it's 'The Reaver.' They often have special releases of a sour beer that they ferment with different fruits, and they're good, but I stick with the original.

The also do infusion beers on occasion, and some are pretty tasty. Their 'Under the Black' (a Brownie stout) on Nitro is incredible.

Overall, you can't beat the atmosphere and you can't beat the beer.

Dropped in yesterday around 3:30 PM and sadly we were the only people there with the exception of the bartender. We like the layout and the bartender was super nice and knowledgeable about their brews. I am an IPA fan so of course I tried theirs - Hoptopus - a double IPA. Outstanding! I will definitely buy more of this and visit the brewery again.

Nice atmosphere, some really good beers and a super friendly bartender made this a memorable stop while in VA beach. Definitely worth a stop, try the hoptopus DIPA and the coffee Porter

The place smells awesome; right when you walk in you can smell the grains and the hops. Their taproom is set up a lot like a bar. I went on a busy night and they had outdoor seating blocked off in the parking lot. The interior had good seating at both the bar and tables. There were a few items on display for purchase along the walls without taking up space. The staff were very nice and explained the beers they had on tap. It was an enjoyable experience. I would visit again.

As a side-note it seemed to be set up more like a brewpub than a brewery.

This is a nice place to relax for a little bit and try/re-try beach brewing beers. The place is a little small so after the fifteen or so bar seats are filled there are a few tables and a couple of couches. Not much in entertainment other than a couple of TVs with sports on and some classic rock on the radio. Not a complaint at all but selection is only their beers - no guest taps or guest bottles. Still, they usually have six to nine of their own beers on tap and are constantly doing one-offs or new versions of beers so worth stopping in more than just a few times a year. Perhaps what I like most, though, is this place has the friendliest bartenders in any bar in this town (which is not damnation by faint praise, although a lot of places around here have adequate service at best). All the bartenders are both knowledgeable in beer and the brewing process and this place is definitely inviting to both those in the know and newbies will to talk and learn. As for food they have food trucks outside and you can take food in.
