Very Good
Peanut Butter Jelly TimePeanut Butter Jelly Time
Notes: PBJ Time Ale is a "light brown" ale featuring subtle British hopping during the boil. This ale is aged on raspberries and real peanuts to give it layered bread, peanut, and jelly flavors. It is a PB&J in a glass!

12oz can poured into an Idle Hands tulip.

L - Pours a light tan/brown color, hints of pink in the body, fairly cloudy. Small cap of whitish foam dies quickly leaving only a foamy collar and a trace of lacing on the glass.

S - Raspberries are definitely present, taking the lead in the aroma with a very bright fruity aroma. Peanut comes on behind that nicely completing the impression. Would like a bit more peanut to get the balance truly correct, but this is nitpicking. Not much for other "beery" aromas here, but that is not a complaint in this case.

T - I expected this to be on the sweet side, but it really isn't at all. Peanut character is much bigger in the flavor - dry and nutty. Raspberry is tart tending towards sour with a not quite natural fruit component. Missing some of the fruity sweetness I was hoping for.

F - A bit thin in body, medium carbonation, lightly tart and fruity, strong nuttiness. Nice.

O - Overall a good interpretation. Plenty of peanut flavor and aroma, which seems to be tough to bring out in beer effectively. The jelly is less accurate, missing the sugary component and replacing it with a bit too much tart/sour impressions. I like it and I could certainly drink more of this.

Just sort of OK? I had a different peanut butter and jelly flavored beer a few years ago, and it was fantastic. You definitely tasted the jelly and the peanut. With this ale, the flavors are there but a bit weak for my liking.

Poured from a 16oz can.

It is a dirty/turbid looking beer. A reddish brown and a pinkish tinted head.

It smells like crushed up peanut shells. Like sitting at the ball park or a Texas Roadhouse. Very authentic. Nothing artificial here, but just a faint fruit smell.

The flavor goes the other way. It is dominated by raspberry. The peanut shows up again in the lingering aftertaste, but it is just semi sweet raspberry and toasted grains otherwise.

This beer is very natural tasting and enjoyable, but it seems to be to extremes. Not much balance. Also, I am not getting brown ale at all from it. I recommend it despite my criticisms.

Yipes stripes! No off putting artificial flavors, jelly is stronger than the peanut butter. Overall very smooth, delicious, nice dessert beer.

The label is misleading. It tastes like a mediocre Raspberry Wheat beer. Peanuts? What peanuts?
