Although named as a Halloween seasonal, Zombie's refreshing taste makes it a year round staple. It is brewed in the Belgian witbier tradition of using unmalted wheat to create the light body and white sheen. Additions of coriander and orange peel give it a fruity and spicy character, while the hops are subtle and lightly detected. Don't be scared to blow the head off a Zombie and drink up!

L: Had this beer on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau, poured into a pint glass. Had a golden yellow color and a somewhat hazy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Below average lacing.

S: A decent, but not fantastic, aroma of citrus, malt, hops, and spices.

T: Tasted of a moderate amount of malt, light hops notes (barely noticeable), some citrus (orange, mostly), a fair amount of spices (coriander, pepper), and a hint of wheat. Not a bad flavor for the most part, but it's a little spotty in places. It could have used a bit more citrus fruit, but had enough spices to keep things interesting.

F: A decent amount of carbonation with a somewhat slick finish. Light-bodied.

O: This is an uneven beer, but you can't completely hate it. Worth a look.

From a 12-oz can dated less than two months ago, out of an assorted six pack gifted me by my next door neighbor after he purchased it on a recent trip to the Carolinas, poured aggressively into a pint glass.

Appearance: Cloudy dull orange producing a massive fluffy white head that lingered a few minutes and left moderate lacing. Very attractive pour. Turns out the appearance is perhaps the best part of this beer.

Nose: Mild, wheat with spices.

Mouthfeel: Very light. Sufficient carbonation.

Attack: Follows the nose, plus a hint of orange peel; nice initial flavor, though hoppier than I would expect from a wit.

Finish: Unfortunately the hops devolve into an astringent aftertaste.

Overall: There’s a bit of work to be done on this wit to complement the beautiful appearance with a more pleasant flavor experience.

Sweet looking can with various shades of purple with a raised textured zombie on it. A very tasty and refreshing beverage, dangerously frothy.

12 oz undated can.

Moderate haze on the pour and just a minor cap and minimal lacing left on the glass.

Ginger and some coriander on the sniff, sniff carries onto the palate....more of the same taste buds....decent but nothing overly special going on here

This was probably my least favorite beer that I had during our recent Asheville visit. Had it poured from draft into a small snifter. Cloudy light yellow color with little head or lacing. Light lemon smell and taste. I would not say this is an exciting beer. Not a repeater, and it is ubiquitous in Asheville!
