OMG!! I was in Oregon two months on business. Gained 15 lbs drinking all the craft brew I could.Far and away this was the best beer I had in those two months. In fact, one of the best brews I have ever drank. Great flavor. Great body!! Sorry I can't be more technical, but a must drink!!!

Hazy, head dissipated quickly, not a lot of aroma, hop presence/flavor on the low-mid point for taste in an APA, more like a UK pale. Before tasting I had assumed that the oats are added to smooth out the bitterness but the oats add a slipperiness to the feel more than reduce hop bite.

Overall: seems informative about effects of oats but not something I'd seek out.

22oz bottle. Hmmm...oatmeal in a pale ale - ok, I'll bite.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium copper amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, rather loosely foamy, and mostly just bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some decent rainforest canopy lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of pretty hefty and varied cereal notes - the oatmeal my toddler had for breakfast, further bready flakes of some sort or another, and a biscuity caramel character from the less-healthy morning repasts of my youth - all alongside some bitter, but muddled citrus and pine resin astringencies, as well as a touch of herbal grassiness. The taste is bready, grainy pale malt, a softly sweet caramel essence, mixed oaten cereal notes, leafy, grassy, and somewhat floral bittering hops, a bit of sour lemon fruitiness, and a suggestion of herbal tincture.

The carbonation is certainly active in its evenly-applied fizzy and frothy modes, the body a sturdy medium weight, and generally smooth, with a minor airy creaminess arising in the wee hours of this affair. It finishes off-dry, that rounded cereal character really displaying some chutzpah.

Well, there's my answer - dump 75 pounds (a meaningless measure, without a corresponding batch size) of 'locally rolled' oats into a pale ale, and this is what you get. That is, pretty much an ESB, when the given hops are considered, so, overall, a tasty brew, smooth, and nice 'n hoppy, in that old-school British manner.
