12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Bright golden color, dense head when first poured and then drops a whole lot of lacing on the glass. Citrus rind, pine resin, and wild flowers in the nose from the hops. Smooth and crisp with a semi-chewy maltiness. Assertive hop character, lots of pine and citrus zest. Suggestions of mint and pineapple in the middle, warming alcohol. A bit of malt flavor helps keep things balanced, bread and a light note of caramel. This is your typical West Coast IPA and I'm lovin it.

12 oz can with a canned date of 06/01/2017. Appears slightly hazy golden color with a dense head that tops off the beer. Heavy lacing is left down the glass. Aroma of pine and tropical fruit. I also pick up some sweet malt. Flavor is definitely a bit sweeter than what is typical for West Coast style IPAs. Flavors of pine, mango, with some earthy/herbal notes. Malt adds some sweet caramel and bready notes. Nice body and robustly carbonated. Solid IPA but it is not going to replace any of my regular IPAs in rotation.

355ml can poured into tulip.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with one finger of off-white head that leaves sandbag fortification lace as it recedes.

Smells of mandarin orange, guava and mango slices, pineapple, caramel malt, rising dough and mildly dank piney hops.

Tastes of orange rind, bread crust, pink grapefruit flesh, pineapple chunks, guava, caramel and pine resin. Alcohol is detected.

Feels soft and creamy. Hefty middleweight with frothy carbonation. Finishes dry with a bit of booziness.

Verdict: Highly recommended. A fine example of a California IPA.

One of my best IPA ever.

This West Coast Pale Ale blends Centennial, Chinook and Columbus hops for a potent burst of piney bitterness ans lush notes of apricot, grapefruit and mango.

16oz on tap at D's, served in a standard pint glass

A - came with still, lifeless thin layer of foam on top of a clear gold color beverage. very minimal lacing.

S - citrus heavy hops, candied grapefruit and oranges...lightly sweet and bittering. some faint alcohol.

T - begins with strong citrusy hops, very bitter grapefruit, oranges, some pineapple. not too graceful as the bitterness takes hold before being joined by some alcohol burn. definite West Coast as the malts as nowhere to be found. needs another dimension to it.

M - thin body with moderate carbonation. lacks a bit of "oomph" to it as everything kind of dissipates quickly.

D - not bad, not great. many other IPA's i'd reach for to get a hop fix.

Bottle of this IPA poured into a pint glass at 8am after a 12 hour night shift. The pour yields a huge soapy sandstone white head on top of a golden blood orange tinged body. A little haze in the body shows this ale to be bottle conditioned. The exceptional lacing as this beer draws to a close borders on world class.

The smell is sugar cookies and tropical fruits intertwined together and dancing in the aroma. So far we have a winner.

The taste is sweet pale malts with a heavy dose of grapefruit membrane. It seems that this IPA is very well balanced which is surprising for a California IPA. Were I blindfolded I believe I would have identified this as an East Coast version of the popular style.

Mouthfeel is lowly carbonated and moderately heavy. It almost seems cask conditioned even though it was a bottle poor. This is very oily and exceptionally smooth. Truth be told, this may be the smoothest bottled IPA I have ever had. Very good and enjoyable.

This drinks fast! I'm going to have to keep an eye open for more of these in the future. A bit of a surprise coming from a beer I knew nothing about, but a pleasant surprise none the less. Recommended!

Bottle poured into an American pub glass. A light golden yellow-orange color with a rich creamy white head, very nice lacing left on the glass. Smells tropical as the name suggests, perhaps mango and passion fruit, with some toffee and floral tobacco notes. Not much citrus on the nose. Palate is very herbal and spicy, interesting that the flavor is relatively devoid of the tropical notes so apparent on the nose. Here I do get some grapefruit and apricot/peach, with some weedy pine resin but nothing overly aggressive. Aromatic toasty malts blossom as you go and the nuttiness counterbalances the herb and pepper hopping. Lemongrass? No trace of the ashy pot resin that one can get with aggressively C-hopped brews ... The weed remains green. Interesting IPA that almost defies words. Smells tropical, flavor is a tasteful herb and spice rack with a dash of citrus, and a semi-thin body and very smooth refined bitterness contribute to an overall mellow vibe. I like it and would return to this particular island, but do not go in expected an onslaught. Be mindful and focus. Stablemate Idiot IPA will deliver more aggressive citrus and fruit juice flavors.

12 oz. Bottle

It's been awhile since last time I've had this brew.

Pours a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden yellow color, nice carbonation, with a nice small off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, nice citrus note. The taste is nice hoppy, citrusy. Medium body. Overall, a nice little tasty brew.

Thanks goes out to seaoflament for this brew.

Pours a nice clean/clear dark golden yellow/orange color, nice carbonation, nice little fizzy/foamy white head, with some nice sticky lacing. The nose is hoppy, with some malts, citrus, and some pine. The taste is bitter, hoppy, slightly sweety, with some nice malt notes, citrus, and slight pines. Medium body. Drinkable, this is another tasty brew from Coronado.

Nice looking brew. Creamy white head that leaves a thick blanket of lace behind. Copper to orange in body and some slowly rising fine carbonation.

Citrusy and fruity are the theme here. Hops are not overpowering although there isn't much of a malt bill to speak of. This relies on a light fruity presence to give it some balance. The dry hopping really snaps this thing together and the hop presence comes at you in stages with the big snap coming towards the end. Lays on the palate for a bit.

Notes: I liked it. Nothing overly memorable about this but one I'll pick up again.

On tap @ Mikro, Hamden CT

A: Pours copper/orange, cream colored head, completely clear...no haze.

S: Nose is pretty bright, lots of citrus with a bready, sweet malt base. Piney bitterness pokes through as well.

T: Lemon/orange goodness rounded out quite nicely with malt.

M: Somewhat chewy, medium carbonation.

O: A well rounded IPA, excellent drinkability. This is better than Coronado Idiot, its big brother.
