Sitting at the 8.5%, I opted for my tulip.
The appearance was a semi-dark golden bronzed orange color about it with a stiff finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Sly roaming lace.
The aroma had a gentle blend of citrus pith, fresh pine, light alcohol and a subtle fresh biting grassy sweetness.
The flavor started bitter and became sweet but then went back to the bitterness. Malts are quite low here. I was hoping this would have eventually combined to become fully bittersweet but to no avail. Fairly nice aftertaste of the citrus, pine and low riding biscuits.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt appropriate. ABV hit just as expected. Slight astringency, but acceptable to me.
Overall, pretty good DIPA that I could have again.

ine, light alcohol, mild bitterness for the style. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but the flavors seem to clash rather than flow together.

Tried this offering from the local who reaches out.
Look was the golden but no hop aroma. Maybe it was the transport to the east coast. Taste was smooth but alcohol like. Maybe if I could try it fresh I would have a better revisit attitude. I'll finish the six anyway.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, some pine. Taste is citrus, pine, light alcohol, mild bitterness for the style. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but the flavors seem to clash rather than flow together.

This pours a tan yellow in the glass. Nice aroma, with some straw and citrus. There's a sweet orange rind, some bittering on the finish. One was enough for me.

Somehow managed to avoid this all these years. Clear yellow with plenty of foam in the Pleasing floral aroma with notes of pine and orange. Quite frothy and acidic on the tongue. Thin body with just a wisp of malt.

Lime peel taste. Plenty bitter but not overwhelming. Grapefruit pith aftertaste, though. Seems to get sharper and even more acidic as you sip. The Hop Mistress is a harsh one. From the 12 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market on West Point Loma.
