Picked this up recently in Totowa, having never had anything from Coronado before. I was hoping that this would be on the level of a German Hefe but it turned out to be closer to Blue Moon or a summer Shandy. While light on the alcohol, that thinness carried over to the flavor and I was amazed how fast this went down, even for a beer of this style.

The pour was the best aspect of this beer as it came out golden, unfiltered, and with a full head that quickly faded to a ring of foam around the top of the liquid. Not a strong aroma to this and not a lot of lacing either as there were only a few streaks that ran down the side of my pint glass as I worked my way through this. More honey than anything else in the taste, along with wheat, light bread, and a hint of orange waaaaay underneath all of that. This was light, somewhat tangy, and carbonated enough to scrub anything away before the next sip. The body was here but the taste wasn't and the was unmemorable despite being one of my favorite styles of beer to enjoy.

The booze was light enough in this that this could fall under the "lawnmower beer" category should you wish to down a pile of these on a hot afternoon. While not the worst example of a Witbier to be found, this could have been so much better. A brighter flavor profile and some tangerine pith or rind would have made this more complex without overdoing it. As it was, it's a welcome beer for the season that's not quite like anything else currently on the shelf...but not for the right reasons.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a pokal glass

It is amber in color with golden highlights. It was topped with less than an inch of off-white head the disappears quickly. Chunks and specks of yeast were visible.

Aromas of orange blossoms waft across my nostrils.

It has a pretty strong orange taste but not overpowering. The honey mellows it out.

I stole this from my girlfriend to try. It's decent. I don't think I'll be buying it unless it is for her.
