I have never had a Nelson Sauvin Hopped beer but I am glad I had this one. Had it on tap for the release of this beer at Bocktown Monaca (which has some great food too).

The smell is unreal for a beer...white wine is all I can think of. The taste is more of the same, and the finish is very dry with a crazy wine feel too it.

Incredibly fruity, yet at the same time bitter which makes no sense but is the only way I can describe it. Brewer was on hand for a tasting and said the hop is from New Zealand and very tough to get ahold of so not sure if this will be a year round. Would seek this one out.

A: Pours a cloudy amber/golden color with a really small but tight foam head. Some spotty lacing.

S: Smell reminds me of a Sauvignon Blanc and not one from the Loire Valley or California, but a New Zealand one. Lots of grass, oranges, lemons and tropical fruit flavors with a hint of malt.

T: Starts off with ample amounts of grassy and citrus hops up front. In the middle the citrus is still prevalent with a little bit more hop bitterness. On the back end, there is some bready malt and grassy hops.

M: Nicely carbonated. Leaves a slightly bitter taste on the palate. A good light to medium body.

O: A very balanced APA. Good amounts of grassy and citrus hops but not overdone. This is an easy drinking tasty APA.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a one finger head which stays around for most of the drink and leaves strands of lace on the glass. The aroma is big and inviting. There is a nice white grape aroma along with a floral hop smell. The taste follows suit closely. The start of the beer has a malty backbone but this gives way to a nice big white wine white grape taste. The backend has a floral hop bite. The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated. Overall I really like this beer it was a crisp refreshing taste. The hops brought an unsuspected but very good taste to this beer.

Kind of a muddled hop thing going on. Not the kind of definition I would hope for. An okay beer.
