Thanks to Skuter for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a foamy beige head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, herbal hops, and a slight funky and rotten aroma that fades over time. Taste is much the same without the funky/rotten element but there is an earthy and herbal finish. There is a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer with a weird smell but decent taste.

Pours an effervescent amber with 2+ fingers of rocky cream colored head. Great lacing & average head retention

S: Slight breadyness

T: Light maltyness, some toastyness up front, plus dryness, Sweet breadyness, slight astringency & a little toastyness as this warms. Finishes toasty, dry & with woody hops

MF: Light/medium body, firm carbonation, decent balance

Drinks easy, sort of a throwback Pale Ale

My local, in-person trader, tone77, headed Due South for a while and returned with a bunch of CANs for me in furtherance of The CANQuest (tm)! It is like a twist on the old t-shirts in that my buddy visited the south and all I got was a bunch of CANs. In this case, that's okay by me.

From the CAN: "Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana"; "Geaux Local. Drink Tin Roof Beer."; "Ameri[CAN] Pale Ale Balanced to Perfection"; "Just like rain falling on a tin roof, there's nothing more comforting than that first sip of Tin Roof beer. Brewed to perfection on Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Tin Roof is our culture, our way, our beer."

Wahoo! Once more, the Crack! unveiled a brimful craft CAN by giving me a spritz across my fingertips. Tone77 was CANcerned that they were beginning to age, so I am employing the gentlest of Glugs as a result. I still got three-plus fingers of dense, tawny head with decent retention which left some nice lacing in its wake. Color was a slightly hazy Amber to Deep Amber /Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose came off ad more malty than they probably intended, but cirCANstances were beyond my CANtrol. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste had definitely taken a turn for the malty, but it had a nutty, pecan-like flavor which was actually pretty nice. Finish was semi-sweet, very nutty, but a nice change of pace.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of hops, a bit of citrus. Taste is well balanced hops and malts, some citrus, sessionable. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Received as an extra in a trade. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a crystal clear dark amber hue with a one finger white head that fades rather quickly to leave a thin blanket. Next to no lacing.

S - Aromas of sweet malts, some light alcohol, and some vegetable hops. Solvent notes, cleaning supplies?

T - Light malty sweetness, super light pine, faint melon notes. Mostly that vegetable hops, solvent almost chemical after taste, light bitterness.

M - Mouthfeel is average, light carbonation, thin/watery.

O - Overall, hugely disappointed by this beer. Ugh, its tough to find a solid brew from Louisiana.

Had on tap. Pours hazy, orange-brown in color, with minimal head. Taste is malty sweet:caramel, toffee, pale malts. On the sweeter side with medium body. Tasty pale ale that I could have several of. Really impressed with Tin Roof's interpretation of the style.

Pours a copper orange, little froth and lacing. Scent is mostly grassy hops, faintly sweet malts, light toasted grain, touch of muddy and metallic water. Leads with grassy and spicy but only lightly bitter hops, malt backbone is light and muddled, almost more sugary than malty. Medium bodied, active carbonation. Almost too pale of a pale ale.

Poured into a Florida Beer Co. tapered glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a dark reddish amber color with a 1/2 inch light tan head that retains decently before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of sheer surface foam. Resilient lacing clings to the glass leaving small clots behind.

S- Somewhat sweet cereal grain aroma with some light hops.

T- Pretty standard pale ale flavor that's a bit on the malty side and exhibits some enjoyable sweetness. The bitterness is very mild but makes for some easy drinking as the alcohol is well concealed.

M- Also standard. Not a lot of pop or zing from the hops or carbonation. Medium body.

O- I've had this, Juke Joint IPA and the Watermelon Wheat by Tin Roof, all of which are pretty pedestrian. Probably won't try anymore of these guys' beers.
