No label information. Parade Ground is brewed in the style of an American Porter. Available in 12 oz. cans and on seasonal draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. can to a snifter glass.

(Appearance) Pours a crisp thin foam head of a deep tan color over a deep brown body with hazy sediment, garnet highlights. Retention is below average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.25

(Smell) Toasted bread malts, nutty chocolate flavor, light roast and reserved sweetness. Very minute coffee aroma altogether- subtle fruity coffee bean aroma with a light acidity. Potency is moderate. 3.25

(Taste) Slightly more coffee flavor up front than suggested in the aroma. Fruity, very lightly roasted and moderately acidic coffee flavor with undertones of wet malt flavors, shallow chocolate and some fruity yeast flavor. Fairly weak flavor profile altogether for a porter. 3

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, lightly chewy, slightly tangy, mildly dry. Carbonation is very low, with a near zero frothiness and very light crispness on the finish, bordering flat. Body is shy of medium for the style, medium overall. Balance is nearly even sweet to tangy and acidic. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.25

(Overall) There were considerable problems with this coffee porter which rendered it very flawed despite being still a drinkable ale, although I never drain pour so I may not be the best judge of this. Nearly flat texture, weak coffee bean flavor, shallow body even considering the style, reserved flavors are all mushy without any highs or lows. Although I feel this review is accurate enough to publish, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a quality control issue. It's difficult to make a coffee porter less than stellar and this ale certainly was particularly unimpressive at best. 3.25

An excellent porter that you can drink year-round which is very impressive. Tin Roof really knew what they were doing with this one, my only regret in life is that it isn't a year-round offering.

I understand why a lot of the reviews for this beer are much lower than I feel this beer deserves. People are used to their coffee style dark beers being smoother or sweeter with a touch of milk or perhaps would prefer a barrel-aged beer. They may even think this beer is not substantial or heavy enough for a coffee porter.

I am here to tell them that they are missing the point. I think with beers it is important to evaluate the brew for what it is trying to accomplish in and of itself outside of your usual preferences. That having been said, let's discuss what Tin Roof is actually trying to accomplish here - a drinkable porter that is both sessionable and hearty. A beer that can be drank in Louisiana where the weather fluctuates like a schizophrenic man living under a bridge. A beer with all the characteristics of black, gritty, strong drip coffee. I think this beer hits all of those points and then goes above and beyond.

It succeeds in being both substantial and drinkable, with being flavorful but not overwhelming, and by being both very unique and a great representative of Louisiana craft brewing. For all of those reasons, I give this beer a 5/5. It is a shame that it is not brewed year round. I would love to pair it with Louisiana oysters for a new take on a traditional pairing.

Subtle hints of chocolate mixed with delicious coffee. Alcohol content is within perfect threshold. Taste is smooth and perfectly carbonated.

A very nice porter, though I feel a touch of sweetness would help. Mine is all coffee and a bit metallic, from the can I suppose. I don't find chocolate and sweet malt present as much as some do. Pretty thin in the mouth too. Overall quite drinkable, just lacking complexity on the nose and palate. Always proud of my bayou brews!

Pours really nice but the head dissapates quickly. The nose is all coffee and chocolate but somewhat subdued, I expected it to be more fragrant. Taste is mostly the same. Mild coffee and chocolate but definitely not full of flavor and finishes with a slight sour tang. Feels a little thin but the creamy carbonation makes up fornit a little. Overall it's far from offensive but I wouldn't seek it out again.

Poured from 12oz can into a tulip.

Appearance: rich, dark brown hue with a finger of frothy tan foam. Quite nice.

Smell: very rich coffee aroma up front. One thing I really like about it is that the coffee character reminds me of the kind of coffee notes you naturally find in porter, so the java is a real enhancement here. Very good.

Taste: much like the aroma, the coffee is used to good effect. I also feel like there's less vegetal hop character than you often get in robust porters, but there is still a decent bitterness for the style. I'm a big fan.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and a pretty smooth creaminess. Not at all bad.

Overall: I'm finding myself really liking this porter. The coffee serves as a great complement to the beer's fundamental character.
