(Update: I tried this again at the brewery and found it to be a much better experience. I can only guess that perhaps the lines were dirty or fouled at the brew pub where I first had it. I adjusted my scores appropriately)

I am a huge fan of Tin Roof and so I was very excited about their seasonal IPA offering. I had my first experience with it today, and, while it was not what I was expecting, it was a very drinkable beer.

The color is nice, a rich golden pour with a nice head that subsides to a good amount of lacing. My biggest detraction is the aroma, or lack thereof. Tin Roof's other seasonals have excelled in their aromatic distinction, so the lack of a good, heady smell left me a little surprised.

Taste wise, I found Juke Joint to be a little thin, but very palatable. Purposefully brewed with a lower IBU and ABV than many IPAs, the bitterness that most hopheads are looking for is not to be found here. However, for the casual IPA drinker, this may be a welcome respite.

All told, it certainly was not my favorite of Tin Roof's seasonals, but it is still a good beer, one that I'm sure I will sample many more times before the next offering is released.

I've had Tin Roof's signature blonde several times and enjoyed it immensely so I thought I'd branch out. It was a solid IPA with a nice mouthfeel and nice hoppy notes throughout. The 7% wasn't overwhelming and it paired nicely with Mexican food.

Pours hazy, dark orange-brown in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is pine resin, grapefruit, and Earl Grey tea. Light caramel sweetness appears as the beer warms. Bitter with dry finish, medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Tasty and dry IPA that is worth a shot, but I prefer others in the style.

Canned 6/24/16

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2+ fingers of cream colored head. Great head retention & good lacing

S: Neutral, some grassiness & pine fight through, then grapefruit

T: Pine, grapefruit & breadyness up front. Herbal, woody & grapefruit, rich breadyness as this warms, a little caramel, plus dryness. Finishes with grapefruit, dryness, pine & a little more caramel

MF: Medium body, soft carbonation & nice balance

Solid IPA, wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but would get again if the great IPAs weren't available, nose is the only real drawback

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a orange/amber color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of citrus, hops. Taste is hops, tea, tropical fruits, some pine, a bit of malts. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Pours a medium copper color, with an off-white finger of head, nice lacing. Aroma had some citrus and pine, but mostly floral hop notes with a bready maltiness. Aroma want too aromatic. Taste had a medium bitterness, citrus and floral hoppy notes, and an equally malty backbone. Oily, medium body, good overalls slick feel.

After the Parade Ground being so delicious, I had high hopes for this, but ultimately, it was pretty average.

Tin Roof Juke Joint IPA has a thick, egg-shell colored head, a mostly clear, bubbly, amber appearance, a heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet malt and pineapple hop resin. Taste is of the same, with bitterness that become more noticeable in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Tin Roof Juke Joint IPA finishes semi-dry and highly drinkable for a 7% alcohol beer.
