Style: English Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Don’t get thrown by this one coming out of the tap handle!! While dark in color, this Brown ale has a remarkably light mouth feel making it a great beer any time of year. The malt profile showcases hints of caramel, roasted nuts and cocoa. Just like the Rodeo Announcer says…. “Let’s make him feel a little better on SATURDAY NIGHT!!”

The beer is a very dark brown with a 1" head of off white foam and has some nice lacing.

Lots of sweet malt and cocoa in the smell, which I'm digging.

Same for the taste...definitely English style with very little bitterness and nice levels of malt and cocoa.

Medium body goes well with a lightish carbonation.

This is a very good Brown Ale.

Pours a clear, brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight hops, hint of pale malt, hint of yeast, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an English Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight hop, hint of pale malt, hint of yeast, and a hint of rye. Overall, good appearance, decent aroma, body, blend, and feel.

Poured from a 12oz can into a Newcastle Brown glass.

Look is a a hazy opaque with a reddish tinge. Head is a slightly latte colored.

Aroma is molasses and lightly hopped.

Taste is astringent alcohol with a toasted molasses note at the end.

An uncomplicated easy drinker. None of the rich roast of other brown ales but pairs well with the chocolate covered pretzel I'm having with it.

Pours beautiful with this foamy airy head that disappears all too quickly. Count this among one of the many great brown ales from the greater Montucky area. A solid brew with hints of chika chika cherry coke and good loose leaf.

Clear reddish brown pour with an off-white one-finger head. Nice malty aroma with hints of caramel and bread standing out. Taste is nutty upfront backed by a good bit of caramel and bread flavors resulting in a slightly sweet overall flavor. Also has a very light hop presence. Light to medium body and moderately carbonated. Finishes with a sweet nut flavor.

Chestnut brown with hints of maroon. Head is actually really nice looking, 2 fingers tall and frothy lace.

Some slightly nutty aromas, with amber and cocoa malts. Noble hop presence; cheerios.

The flavor doesn't have much of anything to offer unfortunately. Pretty watery, mostly just hop extract and flaked barley. Flavors are washed out and very 2-D.

Feel is crisp, then starchy. Semi dry roast on the finish.

Saddle Bronc is pretty much a drain pour. I don't really care to finish this one - not that I can't, I just wont.

Pours a medium brown with a light head but a fair amount of lacing. Aroma is nothing out of the ordinary. Taste is both bitter and sweet. Carbonation is medium. A decent brown ale.

The beer is a very dark brown color with with minimal lacing.
Very malt forward with some cocoa in the aroma.
The taste is very similar with the malt but with more cocoa.
Really a nice offering that I received from a beer of the month club.

Great example of an English Brown Ale from an American brewery. Nutty taste with a very clean finish, exceptional beer.
