Dark brown and very malty. Has somewhat of a haze to it. Decent beer to drink not to hoppy or bitter. Maltiness gives it a good beer for summer. First beer from South Carolina i have tried

Deep brown with amber hues and a deep haze. Poured with a short, light beige foam with low retention. Medium high dark malty aromas with notes of milk chocolate, toasted malt, and dark fruits. No hop aromas. Medium bodied with a light carbonationd, a light creaminess through the middle, and a light warmth near the finish. Medium high dark malt with toasted bread and light dark fruit flavors. Medium light hop bitterness through the middle that trails to the end along with dark malt flavors. Finished with a light toffee note and dark malt sweetness followed by light hop bitterness. Body was a bit on the thin side for the style. Malt character was good, fresh, but lacked complexity. Flavor was a bit out of balance with bitterness through the middle over ran the maltiness a bit.

Poured from a growler into multiple pint glasses. The appearance is a clear, dark brown color with a small white head. The aroma is mostly toasted malt with some caramel malt thrown in. The taste is a match for the aroma. A very nice doppelbock.

More reminiscent of a dunkel than a doppelbock. Sweetish brew that pours flat (no head, minimal carbonation) with a very malty taste that leaves a sugary taste in the mouth. Was expecting more. I wish the American brewers were more truthful to the German styles....

Some caramel, and malty sweetness, thin to medium body, not a bad beer for the style

Something different but seemed to be watered down.

Fantastic American dopplebock. Really tastey. I could definitely see purchasing this one again.

pours a very dark brown, kind of reddish, dark brown. Smell is toffee with some hints of caramel and coffee. Taste is of roasted coffee . Smooth flavor, easy drink, but not an overly complex flavor.
