Picked up at Weyermann, Bamberg, DE. €4.99 + 0.25€ Flaschenpfand (Bottle deposit). Reviewed 10/29/18.
650 mL capped bottle marked “Mindestens haltbar bis 22.02.2019” on the back label. Stored in reefer in the maltery store and served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
Body – Dark brown, opaque.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.7 cm, controlled center pour), tan, dense with surface rocks, good retention, slooowly diminishing to an irregular four to eight mm ring. Head retraction leaves behind some small pieces of lace.
Lacing – Fair. Partial areas of torn curtain lacing are present.
First pour – Medium brown, hazy.
Aroma – 4.5 – Bitter chocolate, pumpernickel, some burnt malt.
Flavor – 3 – The chocolate from the nose is absent but some of the bread comes through, as well as a bit of toasted malt. It ends slightly dry with some hop bitterness. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 - Thin, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3.5 – A slightly above average schwarzbier, mostly because of the nose.

Really dark color with ruby hues and mocha head. Aroma has intensely roasted malts, almost smoky. Tastes like slightly sweet coffee with chocolate notes. Body is quite light but smooth. A well made schwarzbier but nothing special.

Throughly enjoyed this beer.
Pours a dark almost jet black, with about 2 fingers of compact, slightly tan head. Leaves a strong lacing that lastes all the way through.
Smells like milk chocolate, coffee.
Super smooth chocolate taste, kinda reminded me of chocolate milk, and I like that. Easy to drink, good carbination levels, nice levels of malts. Being that I got this in Germany, the price wasnt too bad at all. Got this in a pack with 3 other beers from BraifactuM for around 15€ with pfand. One of the better Schwarzbiers I have had yet.

L:
-pours a clear dark brown with a big creamy, beige head
-medium carbonation visible
-way too light in colour for a Schwarzbier
.nice viscosity
S:
-earthy,black bread,roasty
T:
-Follows the nose plus licquorice, prunes and a slight coffee note
F:
light-medium carbonation,light-medium body
O:
I was sort of lukewarm to this.
Its a solid Schwarzbier, but considering it costs 3-4 times as much as other, better Schwarzbiers is a serious downer

On draft at Brauhaus Schmitz on 1-16-2015.
A deep jet black unfiltered draft with thick tan head that persisted through the session. More flavorful than any other version so far, spicier with more complexity. Hop and malt balance is exceptional.
