My wife and I went to 1904 Beerhouse last night.

Much more of a bar, than a beer bar. We sat outside in the walkway section entering the casino and people watched. Inside there is a long bar that stretches the length of the back wall. Lots of wood, steins on the wall as well as TV playing sports.

Decent beer selection, but not great. I had a Fuller's London Pride and a GI mild winter. There were about 30 beers on tap or so and about double that in the bottle. Bottle selection was much better than tap selection. They had a few locals from Schlafly and O'fallon on tap and a few other American brewers. Other than that it was imports. Beers come in three sizes, 16 o.z. pint glass, 22 o.z. stoneware mug, and 48 o.z. stein.

Our service was good but we didn't have any question that the normal waiter at any restaurant couldn't answer.

Food was good but from talking with others that have been here before, it has slipped a little. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish pieces were small but tasty. If you are vegetarian, there were a few appetizers you could order but I don't remember any entrees that would fit your needs.

Overall, the prices were pretty average and considering this is a casino, fairly cheap. It is a good place to go if you are in the neighborhood, but not the type of place you would seek out.

I visited 1904 Beerhouse at River City Casino over the holidays. It is a pub located just inside the south entrance to the casino (though technically it is not inside the gaming area of the casino). The pub is long with a bar along the back wall. There is also seating "outside" in the mall leading to the gaming area.

The craft beer selection is good, though not stellar. Furthermore, two of the beers I ordered (on-tap) from the menu were not available. Beers are available in 16 oz, 20 oz, and 48 oz sizes (!). The imports are a bit more expensive than the domestic.

The food was good to very good. I really liked the beef braised in Guinness, served with vegetables and a pastry shell topping. The German spaghetti was also good.

The service was pretty good, though a bit slow at times (but it was a busy night).

Overall a good place to visit if you are heading to River City Casino.
