Our Scottish ale has a malty backbone of Maris Otter and roasted barley and is lightly hopped with Perle and Golding hops.

Got this in trade from thagr81us. Thanks, Calton.

Poured into tulip and shared with gwuilliums.

A: Dark amber color with good head formation and decent retention. Lacing as you drink.

S: Not much aroma, even when it was warm. What there was showed sweet maltiness and some dark fruit.

T: Mostly earthy/caramel malt. Not really any hops. It is good, but it doesn't have the sweetness that I expect from this style.

M: Medium body, no stickiness. Good level of carbonation.

D: There is nothing extreme about this beer and it is easy to drink.

One beer from an assorted six pack gifted me by my next door neighbor after he purchased it on a recent trip to the Carolinas. Undated (or at least I was unable to decipher the code on the can), poured from a 12-oz can into a Stein.

Appearance: Clear ruby-ish brown, with a massive light-tan head that lingered long, leaving moderate lacing. The appearance actually turned out to be this beer's strongest attribute.

Nose: I'm surprised there's actually very little, at most a faint malty caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium, sufficient carbonation.

Attack: Follows the nose, a little sweet, though not as intense as I would expect for a beer of this style — it's pleasant though, easier drinking than most beers of this style.

Finish: Some hop bitterness to balance the attack.

Overall: I'm enjoying drinking it, though it's not what I expected from a Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy — it seems maybe more a cross between a Vienna Lager and a Scotch Ale.

Had it at Silverspot. An excellent aroma of grains and nuts greets the senses, followed by a flavor as smooth as honey upon tasting.

Very nice clear, brown body and carbonation; huge, light tan head, thick and foamy. Pleasant aroma; heavily toasted grain notes; toffee. Tasted started out thin but developed more as the beer warmed; earthy sweetness; toffee and nuts; mild to moderate bitterness. Medium mouthfeel; pleasant residual sugar feel; semi-dry overall.

This is a decent beer although, in my mind, seems a bit thin and weak for the style. The looks and taste are its high-points.

19.2oz canned 03/22/22 (7 months ago) poured into a nonic pint glass at fridge temp 7% ABV 24 IBU. The beer pours opaque dark amber with khaki head and chestnut highlights. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles. The aroma is mild with just a hint of malt. The taste is semisweet toasted malt with earthy hop notes and a mildly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good.

Picked up a 19 oz stove pipe can from the Ingles Highland Lakes cooler 6-9-22 for $3.00. Canned 3-22-22; consumed 8-27-22. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured a dark reddish brown with a nice off white head.

Nose is sweet traditional toasted malts.

Taste is sweet toasted malts with a touch of brown sugar that is hopped sufficiently to balance but leave an approprial level of dry sweetness.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty smooth.

Overall it took a handful of sips but this brew grew on me. A pretty good representation of the Scotch style.

Very dark appearance. Hits you with sweet, roasted malts at first, but this flavor quickly dies down. Lingering, syrupy, dry finish.

I love an oatmeal porter. This is not a porter. But it will please those lovers of Scottish ales as well as porter lovers. Does not disappoint!
