Pours a dark amber color, with an off white head, left plenty spongy lace. Aroma was floral with the hops, some citrus, spicy rye, caramel sweetness. Tastes of citrus, sweet nuttiness, spicy, fruity rye notes, hints of pine. Bitterness is medium. Body is medium, low to medium carbonation. Drinkability is good, easy to quaff.

Nice ipa, not world class, but enjoyable.

A: Light brown, lots of fine bubbles distributed evenly throughout the brew, light haze, 2 fingers of light beige head, lava stone like lacing.

S: Citrus, hops, toasted malts.

T: Citrus, white grapefruit, big white grapefruit bitter notes from the middle of the sip well into the long lingering aftertaste. Orange citrus quality, very light sweetness, mostly a dry beer.

M: Medium resinous, thick body, medium carbonation, dry bitter finish.

O: Love rye beers, and I love this one. Drank in Canton, June 21st, 2014. Great look and taste. Got this on sale at Ingles today.

22oz. bomber shared with friends on 12/22/09.

A - Poured a hazy orange/copper-tinged body with moderate carbonation and a thin, off-white head that reduced to a patchy veil but left a splash of sticky lacing.

S - Hint of spicy, peppery notes followed by rye malt and some citrusy hops. Overall, the nose features lots of grainy, bready malt notes and spicy fruit attributes.

T - Bold rye presence right from the get-go with spicy notes and citrus hops backed by a hefty grainy malt backbone and an apparent rye profile. Finishes with a fairly assertive hop bite.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a mild syrupy texture. Finish is quite dry and bittersweet on the palate with a hint of spice.

D - Rye Hopper is a really flavorful and drinkable rye beer, and is quite dry and spicy with more of a hop presence than I was expecting. My first experience with French Broad and I was not disappointed.

Twenty-two ounce bottle pours a hazy, burnished copper body with a two finger khaki head. Good retention and very sticky lacing drapes the glass.

Aroma is a bit subdued, but boasts some sweet citrus(pink grapefruit), spicy rye, and earthy and leafy pinecone.

Very good mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, with a medium body and carbonation.

Taste is interesting. Earthy, spicy, and peppery rye malt is the star here, but the hops stand out, as well. Pine and grapefruit notes weave in and out. Just a touch of caramel to keep things interesting. A touch of toasted rye bread and hops earthiness at the finish.

I'm very partial to a well done rye ale and this one hits the mark on all accounts. It's a bit too filling to want more than one at a single sitting, but this is my favorite French Broad product to date. Well done!

A-Slightly hazy copper kissed orange with a thin, off-white head that reduced to a wispy veil that left spotty lace.

S-Sharp, spicy zip with notes of citrus and pepper. Malt base is light and moderately sweet.

T-Strong rye spiciness with backing citrus hops. Fairly simplistic and straight forward but it works well.

M-Medium-light bodied with sharp and crisp with a dry finish. Good lingering spicy bitterness.

D-A solid, easy to drink and pleasing palate stimulator. Full of rye dryness, spicy zip and citrus zing. Well done and flavourful. Certainly a beer I could drink with regularity.

A - Dark honey/amber, near white head leaves to ring fast. Some cling lace apparent.

S - Very barny. Gamey. Not in a bad way, but very in your face.

T - Taste is much more subtle. Light malt, nice hops finish. Decent stuff.

M - Fair carb and coat, good balance, slight acidic flavor at end.

D - Very easy to drink.

A - Two fingers worth of slightly off-white colored frothy head... Fairly impressive retention gives way to a full lather of lacing... The color is deep rich autumnal orange color with some reddish trying to burst through... Loaded with swirling small bubbled carbonation... Loads of lacing clings to the glass...

S - Pizza dough fresh out of the oven... Just a moderate touch of rye spiciness... A bit of hoppiness lurks beneath the surface... A bit of earthiness... Nice balance...

T - Bready malts to start... Some caramel... A pungent hop bitterness comes next... A bit of rye spicienss follows... Everything begins to fade and then the finish is a returning crescendo of hops and rye... Loaded with nuance and complexity... A job very well done...

M - A very nice mouthfeel... A dense medium bodied offering... Light, but biting carbonation... Fairly intense... Starts juicy... Finishes a bit on the dry side...

D - Definitely a very nice beer that walks the fine line between American Pale Ale and Rye Beer... Not the best in either category, but very nice offering none the less... More hops than rye, which as a rye beer lover is a bit of a let down... A great value at sub $5 per bomber...

22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark rusty orange with a thin white head on top. Recedes to just a sheet across the surface. Some lace is left behind after each sip. I don't know what to make of the nose. At first whiff, I get sawdust, grain, and sour fruit. But as I'm sipping and taking a breath, this resembles wet gym clothes and locker room. Seriously. It smells odd to me.

Good crisp clean mouth. Fair carbonation. Refreshing finish. The rye really makes itself known in the flavor. Grainy start but gives way to slight souring notes, and a dry finish. I've wanted to try this one for awhile, and finally pulled the trigger. I'm not sure it's one I would make a regular buy, but I'm glad I tried it.

Pours a clear darker amber with half inch creamy white head that slowly settles to a thin ring and leaves a few splotches of lace. Smell: spicy and slightly sour rye, a little citrus rind, bready. Taste: spicy rye, grapefruit, toasty with a little toffee sweetness. Medium bodied with soft, creamy carbonation. Nice easy drinking offering.

22oz bottle into a Duvel snifter pours a crisp copper with a decent cream head. Aroma is a nice bit of rye with citrus hops right behind. The taste is a nice sharp rye bite balanced nicely with citrus hops. The beer is light and smooth with decent carbonation, very refreshing. This is certainly a great beer, one I'd love to see around this area as long as the price isn't jacked up by the distributor.

22oz bottle received as an extra in a trade with soulforpeanuts. Thanks! Poured into a Brooklyn snifter.

A - Pours a somewhat dirty looking amber brown color, a bit of haze, and a huge three fingers of head. Takes several gentle pours to get a full serving into the glass. Head is creamy colored with a thick whipped cream body that retains its shape even as it falls. Tons of loose, sticky lacing left on the glass.

S - Citrusy hops up front with heavy grapefruit, lemon, some pine and a bit of mint. Rye is right up front too, nice and spicy, apple-cinnamon, bready malt and yeasty aromas round things out.

T - Sharply bitter, but rounded out by the spicy and distinctive rye flavor. Lots of rich, bready malt at the base. Good mix of light sweetness, spice, yeasty/bready flavors, and bitter hops. Good interpretation of the style.

M - Medium in body. Carbonation is very high giving a foamy, fizzy feel in the mouth. Lingering bitterness stays behind. Carbonation is a bit distracting with its intensity.

D - Overall, a very good rye beer. Well integrated mix of flavors combining into a complex group of flavors to keep things interesting and balanced. Alcohol level is pretty low at 5.9%. Very good afternoon drinker.

A-Clear orange amber with a half inch of white head and some very nice lacing.

S-Malty, a hint of sour rye graininess and a bit of earthy hops.

T-Nice. A bit sour in the front and some nice sweet malt and some mild hop bite in the finish.

M-Light to medium bodied and a bit dry.

D-Tasty, sessionable,

HV
