Had dinner here on 01/11/11 with my girlfriend.

When you walk in there is a long bar to the left and table straight back and to the left. The walls are covered in Belgian beer signs, and the place is dimly lit and not that big, but at 8PM on a Tuesday half the tables were empty. They had about 14 taps and 40 bottles, with the majority of the taps and half the bottles being Belgians. The food is also Belgian style and very good.

Overall I liked the place a lot and would certainly go back for food or just Belgian beers if I were in the Dupont area. Would recommend checking out.

Decent election but sort of common. Below ground. Dark. That bar smell combined with mussels. Good draft selection. Don't bring your Bud only friends. Small for a DC bar. Wooden tables. Big tables for groups. Benches. A beer drinking establishment. Fine service.

My first impression of St. Arnold's is dark, loud and festive. My wife and I enjoyed our first evening at the bar, but found it to be very loud, even though we showed up at the tail end of happy hour. The place is a bit small and don't forget to walk down the steps. St. Arnold's would make a great place for a 20-30 person group (private party).

Slightly above-average knock-off of an authentic Belgium beer bar. Has plenty of Euro style signs and paintings on the walls. Great looking wooden tables and chairs accent the inviting, fun ambiance the bar radiates. St. Arnold's is covered in exposed brick from wall to wall, and it's "dungeon" look is complimented by dim lighting and candle light. They also had some cool looking taps available for the small selection of draft beers available.

Good quick bar and waiter service, even when the place is packed. Food was brought out only after a few minutes of waiting. Normally I wouldn't make note of this, but the place was packed and there were plenty of other tables that had ordered food as well. Nice selection of fried, breaded, finger foods. I would have loved to have tried the seafood (mussels) with a great Belgian beer. As we barely waited for our food to come out, I have to admit the plates that were being served to other tables looked very appetizing.

Beer menu is exclusive and smaller than expected, but definitely well paired with the food they had to offer. Not a prime destination, but a great place to have beers, be loud and enjoy a few with friends. I'll have to try the mussels next time I'm there.

This is an interesting hideway from the bustling street of Connecticut ave and downtown DC in general. There is a stairway that goes down leading the way into this little Belgian brewpub. The decor was European-like attempting to replicate some of the Belgian style. I had a few Belgian beers at the bar - they didn't have impressive happy hour deals so I ended up paying a pretty penny for a Duvel green. Bartenders are laid back and look like washed out rugby players or something. Not a bad selection of beers. Overall a decent watering hole if you're looking for a low-cost Belgian inspiration with a limited selection over the more upscale and vibrant Brassaire Beck not too far away from this place.
