draught
Thick and creamy, light tan head. Dark, brown and auburn appearance. Slightly woody and caramelized, dark toasted malt aroma. Moderate level of medium toasted wood and caramelized malt flavors, with a touch of a woody bite and a bit of a caramel note.

12oz bottle into pint shaker, date on bottle is 4/17/2020 (bottled or best by? no idea, it doesn't say.
ABV has been upped to 6.7% since introduced by the way.

It's a pretty beer in a glass, very dark yet allows some light. The head is small and recedes quickly, Soapy lacing and foam comes back a bit if swirled.

Smell is toasty roasty malt yummyness. Hint of dark fruits - raisin, fig, etc.

Taste same as the smell, really delicious on the tongue. Feel is medium, typical for the style.

I like this one quite alot. Every few months I grab a sixer, and am seldom dissapointed.

*Poured into a Teku glass at 50F*

When looking at the color of this beer, it immediately reminded me of freshly brewed medium-roast coffee. The kind that you would see in your morning brew. The brown wasn't too dark and was translucent. The ale had a half-a-finger thin lace of head which had a slight tan color to it. The head retention was decent, as it didn't disappear too quickly, but at the same time it didn't last very long.

On the first couple of times nosing my glass, I can definitely smell the roasted malt which is typical of this style, but I also found there to me a nice balance of other aromatics such as chocolate, burnt caramel, coffee, plum, raisins, and a slight hint of grapefruit.

Upon first tasting, the notes of the roasted malt were definitely more prominent in the beginning, then the ale started to develop flavors towards the middle--reminiscent of Hawaiian rolls, dark chocolate, and pine nuts. Towards the end, flavors of walnuts and grapefruit lingered on the tongue, all leading to a nutty and acetic acid filled finish.

With a light body to little carbonation, I found the mouthfeel to be a bit lacking in my personal preferences, although this isn't a bad thing. It has a nice smooth finish with little to no lingering bitterness.

Overall, I would say that this is a good beer if you like the roasted/malty characteristics found in stouts, but the flavor profiles and mouthfeel of stouts are too rich for your personal tastes/mood. Sometimes stouts can overwhelm your taste buds so I can see the sweet/roast-y characteristics of this brown ale as something you can balance well with foods containing savory and robust flavor profiles.

Tasted from a bomber bottle into a wine glass. It's an attractive, dark brown beer that shows beautiful ruby highlights when held up in a glass. Very clear. Off-white head is thick and rocky with huge, sticky lacing. Nice roasted coffee and chocolate aromas, with some grain and a bit of smoke. Hops are only there as a faint flowery and earthy fringe.

The flavors are not as distinct as the aromas. I get a bit of chocolate and low coffee over sweet graham-cracker-like malt. Hops are not a major flavor contributor. Clean fermentation with no yeast notes. Low to medium body. Low carbonation. No alcohol presence. Low to medium hops bitterness.

Overall, this is a very good American brown ale. Lots of great aromas; I just wish the flavors were a bit more prominent.
