This is a decent tasting brew. It is very sweet with the flavors of a Fruitcake. Lot s of candied fruit and candi syrup. Good mouthfeel coats the palate nicely. Smells of dark caramel and orange syrup. For the price of 13.99 I would skip this beer it is not worth it. Maybe if it aged.

On tap at the Libertine Pub in Morro Bay. Brewer says this is barrel aged in Grenache barrels. Color is a dark mahogany red with a modest foam. Sweet caramel off the bat with an intriguing hint of sourness. Some grapey flavors with a dark fruity background.
A good dose of sugar in every sip but the tangy darkness gives it a lift. Bitterish aftertaste, though not any detectable hop flavors. The tart sensation pumps up the mellow maltiness. A great sipping beer and definitely a different sort of dark Belgian Ale.

Consumed April 18th, 2013. Served at 45 degrees F and consumed in a standard pint glass.
Clear, deep reddish pour with a three finger cream/tan head. Foamy head subsides, leaving sticky foam down sides of glass all the way down.
Very aromatic beer: cotton candy, cherries and plums, dark malts and brown sugar.
Flavor is much like nose. Maybe too sweet, but otherwise a nice blend of caramel, chocolate and dark fruits. Slight but noticeable bitterness on finish.
Mouthfeel is unremarkable, save for a slightly boozy and warming finish. For a beer with as much ABV as this one has, the alcohol is subtle.
The experience of drinking this beer is slightly greater than the sum of its parts; while not an excellent example of the style, it is a good-natured and legitimate effort.

Poured a dark mahogany, reddish brown color with three fingers of khaki brown head. Uneven, but layered foamy lacing on the sides. Decent retention all the way down.
Smelled dark cherries, plum, dates, figs, caramel and toffee.
Tasted plum, dates, figs, toffee, slight black cherries, purple grapes and caramel. Alcohol was well hidden.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Warming, smooth finish. Definitely the best part of the beer.
Another good beer by Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company. I’d love to try this in a 22-oz. bomber.
