Thanks to shuntstout for sending this bottle! Reviewed from (very long-standing) notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Cycle Brewing pint glass.

A: Very clear and bright gold, with average visible carbonation and a half-finger of white foamy head. This is pretty.

S: Fairly low amount of aroma for a DIPA. Melon, dank and spicy hops, alongside bready malts with mild caramel notes. A touch of citrus and tropical fruits in the background.

T: Melon, spice, and some citrus hops, as well as resinous pine. Crisp biscuit malts that largely stay out of the way. The resin and spicy hops stay in the hang with a quite noticeable ethanol kick.

M: A light crisp body for style, with a good amount of carbonation sensation. The alcohol presence is noticeable – this has a hefty listed ABV, but you can taste every bit of it. This is warming for sure.

O: This was decent, but I felt like it lacked a lot of the interesting hop flavors of the Project Dank (which I much preferred). The hop profile here isn’t my preference, and the alcohol plays too big of a role in the flavor.

A- Deep gold with a minimal head that falls away fairly quickly.
S- Honey, floral notes and a moderate tropical hop aroma.
T- The hops shine on the palate. A sweet malt backbone backs this up nicely.
M- Low to medium carbonation. Very slick and coats the mouth.
D- Yum. A solid IPA that I am stoked I was able to try.

It's a really clear IPA with a small head on top. Smells of white grapes with a grassy Dank Ness to it. Finish is dry with a tropical hop kick at the first that fades away.

L - Glowing golden orange. Translucent as ever, it magnifies everything as you look through the glass.

S - Whoa!!! Just as I remember last year's version, this is a BIG beer, not for the faint of heart. It has a magnificent approachable cracker malt base with layers of juicy white grapes, peaches, and pears.

T - Chardonnay soaked peaches, pears, sweet grapefruit, with an ever so mild bitter finish. There is no disguising the alcohol, you know what you are getting into with the first sip, but at the same time, like a good glass of whiskey, you take your time and enjoy the hell out of ever last sip.

F - Medium to full bodied, perfect. I wouldn't say that it is has a creamy mouth feel, but it definitely coats the mouth.

O - This is a sipper, for sure. It is not what we define as "drinkable", but that IS NOT a bad thing in this instance. Sip on it, allow it to warm and evolve and you will not be disappointed. I've been waiting for this one since last year and it did not disappoint. When it comes to IPAs, Jeff and his crew are second to none....NONE.

In a snifter on release day: 4/21

Finger and a half of foamy, pale whaite head. Body is golden with hues of brown. Slight hazy look and no carbonation evident. 4.25

Big citrusy nose almost suggests OJ. Resinousand spicy too. Big malt presence too. Seems like an extension of PD. 4.5

Thick hoppy flavor hits the tongue. Theres citrus, resin, grapefruit. Maltiness is also heavy and lends some caramel and breadiness. 4.5

Intense bitterness all around, but particularly at the long dry finish with a tinge of booze. Mostly well disguised alcohol profile. Plenty of sweetness up front and mid-palate, but dtill insanely bitter. 4.5

I am quite enjoying this. Very intense mouthfeel and a heap of flavors going on, but it's done quite artfully. 4.5

22 bottle poured into snifter bottled 4/1/15

A: great clarity orangish hue very cold so not much head second pour might have more

S: I'm getting a light rotten stone fruit smell, comes clearer as kumquat and overripe cantaloupe, honeydew and a little bit of mango

T: a lot of that overripe cantaloupe kumquat and mango come out strongly in the taste but the beer has a dose of bitterness and residual sugar sweetness with just a touch of malt. Almost like some grape bitterness.

M: Very syrupy this beer is going to lay on your tongue

O: Fantastic beer, this is by far one of my favorite hops and La Cumbre just showcases it perfectly the beer is complex and delicious bursting with an almost overripe melon taste.
