Served in a Belgian tulip at La Cumbre's brewery on the day of the tapping, August 6, 2014.

Orange colored and cloudy with a red hue. Almost glowing in appearance. The head is a finger and a half of pale white foam. Settles in a layer of lace over the body.

Smells rather malty, orchard- like fruit and some tartness and sweet. It's grainy and almost granola-like. Hard to detect much else.

Abundant with fruitiness, it truly tastes like apricot, including some of the tartness. A nice balance of of vanilla gives this a kind of peaches and cream deal. Still, there's the earthy saison quality and that flavor like fresh lilies. At the finish, the apricot lingers on my tongue.

Tartness will hit you on this one, but this beer is creamy and thick-bodied. A lot of malt balances out the heaps of apricot. It's got a semi-dry finish and medium carbonation to boot. There's not a hint of booze.

It's tasty. I could enjoy several of these. The nose was a bit of a letdown, but otherwise this beer shines.

pricey bottles for a beer that i am not sure commands that kind of tag, although i did like it quite a lot. i half expected it to be a wild ale, and it most certainly is not, hardly even a lick of funk or weirdness to the yeast on this one, which seems tame even for the cleaner side of saison. the apricots are prominent though, juicy more like a peach in some respects, and with a little bit of concentrated, almost caramelized or grilled flavor to them, which is nice with the sturdy wheat malt base in here and the seemingly higher protein content it has. the flavor is even more intense than the aroma in terms of the fruit, it comes on a little late, letting the grain set the stage for it, but its really prominent and juicy. it ends up more a fruit beer than a saison in some ways, i miss a more robust or interesting yeast strain, and although the mouthfeel is right (fuller bodied, drier, brightly carbonated), i wish for more flavor contributors than just the apricots. still, its a very well made beer and something a little different from these guys, who are very clearly capable of a lot more than just big danky india pale ale. i would say its good enough to buy a glass of if you see it on tap, but i might pass on a bottle for this price. unless i hear of some remarkable difference between the two i likely wont pick one up. this screams for a brett pitch and a chardonnay barrel...
