16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 8/8/2016. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, peach, pear, pineapple, peppercorn, light pine, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/earthy hops, and light pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, peach, pear, pineapple, peppercorn, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine/herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange peel, peach, pear, pineapple, peppercorn, pine, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/earthy hops, and light pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky, and lightly grainy/resinous balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very good Belgian IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/earthy hops, and light pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and fairly refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

16 oz can packaged 080516 stored at 42 degrees. Served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – a little fruit, a little yeast, and a hint of spice.
Head – large (Maximum eight cm, aggressive pour), white, low density froth which rapidly diminishes until about a cm of dense foam remains to form a partial layer. A very lacey irregular ring varying from one to two cm remains.
Lacing – after the initial head retraction, none.
Body – very light yellow with some chill haze.
Flavor – lightly spiced and refreshing, a little yeast flavor. No malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate – light, watery, lively carbonation.

A very pleasing brew, one of Brewery Vivant’s better.

Appearance 4.5, Aroma 4, Flavor 4.5, Palate 4.5, Overall 4.5.

 

 

Straw gold and filtered with large bubbles and 2 fingers of white meringue head.

Smells of phenols, Belgian yeasts, green hoppy qualities reminding me of Duvel Triple Hoped beers, candied pears and peaches.

Beautiful bouquet of orchard flowers and fruits, pears and peaches, and a solid green hop quality.

Fruity but dry. Light body, dry finish, highly carbonated.

Super interesting brew I found at Tiffany's in Kalamazoo just over a month ago. Enjoying this in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Nov 27th, 2016.

I picked up a can of Brewery Vivant's Bon Papa for $3.99. I've been wanting to try this be and i'm really interested to see how it turns out, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a teku.

A- The label looks nice, it's got some nice info and it goes well with the name, it's also a little eye catching. It poured a golden yellow color that took on more of a lighter yellow color when held to the held to the light with two and a half fingers worth of fluffy white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and left some patchy rings of lacing behind. This is a very nice looking beer, i have no complaints at all.

S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the yest being the first to show up and it impart some bubble gum, spices, light lemon and banana like aromas that go right into some fruit hops with some nice citrus rind aromas coming through with a slight dank aroma in the background and a little bit of pineapple showing up. Towards the end comes the malts which are on the lighter side and they impart a pale malt, sweet malt, light grainy and light bready like aromas. This beer has a very nice aroma, the hop profile works very well with the yeast.

T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the yeast being the first to show, but this time instead of bubblegum showing up there's more of a stonefruit like flavors that goes along with all the other aspects of the yeast that I got in the aroma and it goes well with the other fruit aspects. Up next comes the hops which impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma with a little more of a lemon flavor coming through this time. Towards the end comes the malts which are just about as light as they were in the aroma and they are followed by a slightly lighter amount of medium bitterness with a dry, fruity and hoppy aftertaste. This is a good tasting beer, all the flavors work well together.

M- Smooth, dry on the finish, pretty crisp, a little prickly medium bodied with a higher amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is very nice, I like the extra crispness it has.

Overall I thought this was a good beer and a good example of the style, it had all the aspects that I was looking for and I find them to all work well together. This beer has good drinkability, I could drink a couple but I think that would be my limit. What I like the most about this beer is how well the flavors work together, nothing clashes. What I like the least about this beer is that it didn't have a little more of that extra fruitiness that it had in the aroma. I would buy this beer again and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a farmhouse style IPA. All in all I was happy with this beer and I was little impressed with how well all the different aspects worked together. It's not a favorite Vivant beer, but it is one of the better Farmhouse IPA's that I've had. Good job guys, this a tasty beer, keep it up.

 

 

 

 

 

A - Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a one finger fizzy white head. Light amount of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is fruity esters, cracker, peppercorns and musty earthiness.

T - The flavor is tangerine, pineapple and grapefruit upfront followed by peppercorns, cracker, earth yeastiness and piney hops. The finish has a lingering pepper bite.

M - Medium/light body with medium carbonation. Nice smooth mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.

O - This is a nice Belgian IPA. Easy drinking with the flavors being on point.
