Big, bold, and balanced, this double IPA is unlike most. We take an artistic Belgian approach to our beer. Our brewers sling some serious Citra hops into the kettle as you might expect, but we overlay that excessive hoppiness with Belgian candi sugar to add dimension to this beer. The result is a siege of hop flavor without the bitterness. Tree Bucket catapults out of the brewery once a year. Hoppy beers are not for cellaring. Find it, drink it, enjoy it now.

Tree Bucket from Brewery Vivant. Received on 17/3/21 from Brewery Vivant, Grand Rapids, MI. $ 16.95 (Including tax)/4-pack of 16 oz cans ($ 0.265/oz). At room temperature at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 5/4/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom stamped “PACKAGED ON 03/02/2021”. Served at 56.4 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 60 degrees.
Appearance – 3.75.
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), hazy. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.3 cm, aggressive center pour), white smoke, medium density, average retention, diminishing to a two to four mm crown fed by effervescence and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – Poor. A few tiny pieces of foam hang on the walls of the glass.
Aroma – 4 – Initially strongly herbal with a touch of earthiness. No malt, no yeast. Quickly weakens.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins moderately bitter and herbal/vegetal – the ekuanot hops dominate. No malt, no yeast. No alcohol (9.5 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma, although an immediate but short-lived gastric burn occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, oily, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 At a month old, the Amarillo and mosaic hops are gone, beat into submission by the ekuanot hops. This seems an entirely different brew than the earlier incarnation Trebuchet which people had difficulty pronouncing.

This one was a little odd. I think I was expecting more of a Belgian and IPA hybrid taste and this just didn’t quite deliver. No date printed on can but obtained this one fresh right from the brewery. Pours a slightly darker golden amber color with a small cap of white head and some spotty lingering lacing. Smells of malt, nuts, faint muddled hops, a little Belgian yeast. Taste follows the nose, just not well balanced and there seemed to be way too much malt sweetness. The hops were barely discernible. Mild thin mouthfeel with decent carbonation. Hopefully this was just a bad batch or a little too old.

Canned 2/25/16; drank 3/20/16 @ the Yarchives.

Hazy yellow/orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a small off-white head; strong tree-rung lace.

Banana, mango & faint booze heat notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Apple cider & mild cinnamon flavors up front; dry champagne & faint clove notes on the finish.

3.I wish this was as fruity as it smelled; sadly, this was fairly dry & bitter. Drinkable but not great.

Taste: bitter wild grassy hop, earthy yeast, bread notes with alcohol bite. Floral hops, coriander peppery spice nose. Gold, clear, with white head and some lace. Medium lite body.

Pours gold. Thick, short, white head that lasts a while with light lacing.

Smells citrus, yeasty clove, spice, malt and light pine.

Tastes is a lighter double ipa. Citrus peel, Doughy malt, spice and clove. Followed by Piney bitterness. Finish is bitter pine and light yeast. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation.
