An Irish Red ale with strong caramel malt flavor and hint of roasted barley.

Unusually foggy and dull red, actually nearing brown, with a very thin khaki head that dissipates quickly.

Surprisingly bready, it's almost like pumpernickel, but not toasted. A rounding touch of almond comes in after, countered by a little hint of estery tang that's not quite pear-like.

This really satisfied the sort of liquid bread cravings that made up my original draw into the beer world way back when.

I tried this at the brewery. It poured a clear amber with no head and no lace. The scent had faint malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a decent beer.

Mild caramel aroma, pours a clear red with a quickly fading off-white head. Mild caramel sweetness with a touch of roast. Finishes out with some earthy hops. Overall not a bad red.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly clear deep reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.9%. Overall this is great amber ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and easy to drink. A really delicious offering, and pristine style example.

Took home a growler from the brewpub to have with dinner. Pours a brownish red, a little darker than is typical for the style. Not much of an aroma, but a really nice flavor of well-balanced roasted malt, subtle sweetness in the body, and just a bit of hops on the finish. While this isn't a complex beer, it's an excellent example of the style and pairs well with the barbecue served at the restaurant. Very drinkable without being one dimensional.
