16 oz can, born on 11/4/2020, poured into a tulip glass at 55 degrees F:
L - dark brown with a tan head that quickly dissipated
S - lots of bourbon and a bit of maple
T - more balanced than the smell would indicate, very nice flavors of bourbon and maple
F - medium mouthfeel with minimal carbonation
O - one of the better winter warmers I've had due to the prevalence of bourbon and maple and little spiciness

Dark but gemstone clear, tiger eye to copper-red, with a moderately creamy tan head settling to a persistent film leaving some rolling hills of lace.

First sip has a pretty strong punch, but the smooth medium body has a soft forgiving froth, disappearing quickly to a semi-dry or semi-sticky finish. Dark toast, toffee and candied nut are featured in conjunction with a character of peppery whiskey or spiced rum. The barrel is not contributing a ton of describable flavor, but it's also not too hot.

Overall this goes down real easy, with a nice pumpernickel bourbon exhale. Candied orange and a hint of molasses arise with time. This one is very dangerous.

Canned on 12/4/19. 16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a dark ruby red with nice clarity and bright red hues; light khaki head that fades leaving nice retention and lacing. Great color. The aromas have a nice amount of cherries, dark fruits and caramel. Some vanilla and cocoa. The maple syrup comes through along with a subtle hint of bourbon. The flavors are bold, but ultimately balanced. More cherries which seem to somewhat lead the way, besides the maple. More dark fruits. More caramel. More hints of vanilla and cocoa. There's definitely some coconut in the mix. The spices are on the mild side and basically go unnoticed for the most part. The maple syrup really shines and accentuates everything that's going on. It's on the sweeter side, but it's a nice enjoyable sweetness. It's not cloying or over the top. The bourbon is balanced, but comes through. There's a warmth in the finish, but it's not hot or boozy at all. Nice malt backbone. Mouthfeel is nice. It's full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's slick and smooth. It actually feels a little bigger than 10% ABV, but it's still dangerously drinkable at the same time.

This is a great brew. The Brew Kettle really nailed this one. The maple barrels are the star and everything else works really well. The craftsmanship is on point. They definitely have a winner with this one.

This was a pleasant surprise. Not that big a Brew Kettle fan but this is very good. Had a sample before picking up a four pack. Just the right balance between sweetness and not detracting from the malt taste. I hope this isn't a one off.

1/25/2020

Bought another four pack of this to savor quietly without a houseful of people. This is an outstanding winter warmer. There's a pleasantly boozy smell to this with a sweet slightly bitter maple aroma which is pitch perfect. The maple is out front on the taste but not overpoweringly so; rather it compliments the malty base taste. I just upgraded the mouthfeel because it's pleasantly thick and chewy as a prolonged reminder of what you're drinking. I'm glad I still have three more of these. I don't think aging will improve them because they seem well balanced but who knows what will happen.
