Pours a crystal clear golden orange. perfect frothy white head. This beer looks incredible!
Smells hoppy and citrus heavy. Grapefruit, a touch of pine. Smells wonderful.
Tastes like it smells. The bitterness is just a hair more than I'd like. piney but also citrus heavy on the tongue. The malts are barely present but fill out the body nicely.
Nice solid mouthfeel. Rich, full, well carbonated.
Overall, top notch. I'm quite impressed!

Poured from bottle into Goose Island tulip style pint glass.

Appearance- Beautiful burnt orange color with a half finger of snow white head. Very nice lacing throughout the whole glass.

Smell- Grapefruit and hops explode in your nose. Lemon and lime, along with a piney woodsy aroma.

Taste- Wow is this delicious! You can totally taste the hop bomb, but it is also, at the same time, so incredibly smooth. Grapefruit and hops dominate everything else.

Mouthfeel- Unusually thick for an IPA, but so good. It's like you put a grapefruit, lemon, lime, pine cone, a bunch of hops and fresh cut grass all in your mouth at one time.

Overall- Just a fantastic beer from a brewery that consistanly makes amazing tasting beers. This is their pride and joy, and I can certainly see why.

Holy hell this is fantastic. If this were made by Founders or 3 Floyds it would dominate the ISO portion of the trading forum no less than Zombie Dust.

Perfect balance of juicy hops with sweet malt. Smells fantastic and has just the right amount of carbonation.

L: Nice light copper color. About 1 1/2 finger head with lots of tiny bubbles. Well carbonated.

S: Tons of papaya, pulpy mango, ripe melon, and just bursting with tropical fruit. A FANTASTIC smelling IPA.

T: Somewhat subdued flavor from the nose. The tropical fruit on the nose is present with juicy orange, assertive lingering bitterness, and grapefruit rind.

F: Smooth, present mouthfeel with medium-heavy body. Nice carbonation keeps the beer from becoming overly cumbersome.

O: Overall, fantastic beer and one of the best IPA's from the Midwest, imo.

Pours a clear light golden color with a pretty thin white head. No lacing. Smells like mango, guava, pineapple, and slight citrus. Tropical fruit heaven. Citra hops for sure. Taste follows the nose. Malt is really hidden with little alcohol. Probably the best "West Coast" IPA I've had that's not from the West Coast. Good amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is clean and crisp. Very drinkable. Overall a great IPA. Not much to complain about.

A: a light orange with a nice amount of carbonation coming up from the bottom and a pure white two finger head.

S: Tropical hop bomb! tangerine, orange, pineapple balanced nicely with a candy caramel malt and just a touch of pine.

T: Zesty orange and citrus up front. Some grapefruit balanced out by some spicy earthy hop. Sweet malt in the middle, but nothing that stands out then BAM! Piney Herbal HOPS! fantastic finish on this beer that lingers on and on!

M: Mouthfeel borders on the lighter side with a good amount of carbonation. And like i said, a dry lingering finish!

O: This is awesome stuff! For me its readily available and inexpensive. I could drink it forever because the drinkability is so high! It is also bursting with flavor and has this awesome bitter dry finish. /94

Ok, I've had this one a few times.. time to give it its due. I still haven't had this one from the bottle, haven't gotten around to the brewpub.. I hear it's somewhat rare in the bottles, hopefully that changes. Anyways, pours a nice golden, nice white head, sticky lacing. Ok, this is definitely one of the best noses ever. Lots of pineapple, apricot, and mango. Amazing! Tons of citrus. Slight amount of pine. Amazing flavors, straight dank; extremely tropical! Great use of citra. Great mouthfeel, extremely smooth, right amount of carbonation; finishes dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. This is impossible to stop drinking! WOW! Bottle this in sixers and watch what happens! This is the best batch I've had thus far.

I'm not gonna go on, this is definitely one of, if not the best IPA I've ever had, although there's a still some acclaimed IPAs I've yet to try. I'm not even being a homer on this one. TBK, please start bottling this one! This is the real deal.. I'm lucky to have access to this gem! Just about perfect, I could drink this every single day and never get sick of it.

Fresh 12oz. bottle poured into a snifter tasting glass.

A=Clear, bubbly, crisp looking golden color, pure white head settles from 1 finger to creamy covering, lacing loops the glass with each sip.

S=Citrus is the big up front character to this beers aroma, bit of tropical notes with some earthy, grassy hints in there as well.

T=Very tasty, clean and crisp, citrus up front with the earthy/piney/grassy following with nice balance of malt, hop flavor, and bitterness.

M=Moderate level of carbonation with medium body, nicely balanced and clean.

O=I found this exceptional. Was my favorite from a trade (and it was an extra). Very balanced, great use of aroma, bittering, and flavor hops, clean and easy to drink.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a large tulip.

A: Pours a light honey-gold with a beautiful 2 finger off white head. Moderate amounts of retention and lacing.

S: Huge tropical citrus, a hint of underlying pine. A tiny bit of malty sweetness lingers.

T: Enormous tropical citrus, a hint of some sweet bubblegum with a tad bit of pine at the end.

M: Medium body and carbonation.

O: Overall, this beer is outstanding when it can be found. Huge west coast IPA that's dangerously drinkable. If you find it, buy it, buy it all!

12 oz bottle, Erin brought it back from Ohio.

Appearance: I just don't think this could look any better. Off white head fills the top of my tulip and fades leaving beautiful sticky lacing. The body of the beer has perfect clarity and is a light, orange-gold color.

Smell: Sweet citrus and tropical fruit hops. Smells big and juicy. Hint of dank and a tiny bit of pale malt. Beautiful.

Taste: Just excellent fruity hops and substantial bitterness. The flavor is all sweet hops and bitter bite, with little malty flavor-- but in a good way. Orange, peach, grapefruit, weed.

Mouthfeel: Soft and nicely carbonated, but with a dry, crisp finish. For a beer that is relatively small compared with all the hops it carries, the dry finish accentuates the bitter bite in a slightly negative way.

Overall: I'd never heard of this beer. What a surprise. Excellent beer.

this pours a clear dark amber to brown with a white head that hangs around for quite a bit. the smell oh boy the smell! this is the best part of this solid brew. it hits you with a stong mango note with some carmel hints as well. the taste is deffinatly fruity. i'm pulling out some mango and pineapple. the malt character in this is slightly stong for an IPA but not bad. it is nice and refreshing in the mouth. overall i am a big fan. i like the fruitiness and crisp hop finish of this one.

A finger of almost white head sits atop a coppery-amber body, but not for long. It dissipates to a ring and a light dusting in a couple of minutes, and enough light lacing clings to the glass during consumption to please the eye. A small amount of bubbles are noted rising to the top of this nice translucent beer.

The nose is where this beer's experience really kicks in. As expected, the hops are at the forefront of the nose with grapefruit and passion fruit making an early showing. With a little searching one also finds ripe oranges and pine in there, with a kiss of malt to balance it out. Outstanding.

Pine and grapefruit are the first flavors to come to attention when one takes a sip of this. This is immediately followed with the taste of oranges and a hint of passion fruit, with just a whisper of malt rounding out the taste experience. As the beer warms up, the malt gets going with a decent bread character on the back end, which really just serves to make the whole thing better and more solid tasting.

This beer is medium bodied, nice and bitter and only coats the mouth a little bit. It's a little dry at the end, and leaves you with a strong bitter aftertaste that is reminiscent of pine and grapefruit, without being in your face about it.

I recently moved out of Strongsville, and let me tell you, if you want to get this beer on tap at the Kettle, you must get there early. It had a good reputation before winning "Best in Show" at the International Beer Fest in Cleveland this year, and after having done that it sells out quick. It is definitely worth every penny though.

Poured from a bottle into my Duvel tulip.

Live review.

A: Pours a clear golden tinged orange, 3 finger off white head that settles into a thing cap. Leaves thick, sticky lacing everywhere and it won't let go of the glass. Perfect, really.

S: Who switched my beer? I've had this beer twice before, once on cask and once in a ~6 week old bottle. This one is nothing like those pine bombs. This one is tropical fruit, pineapple, papaya, mango, tangerine, orange, some floral notes, lightly piney, some light caramel notes behind all of it. Very, very impressive.

T: Okay, this isn't funny, who switched my beer? Follows the nose, with a nicely bitter front of tropical fruit, pine, lightly sweet malt, and finishes lightly dry and lingering bitterness. Fruit sticks through the finish too. Very impressive again. No hint of the ABV.

M: Light side of medium body, oily and coating on the palate, and lightly creamy. Only thing that doesn't wow me. In no means is it bad though.

O: So I finally give this beer a third chance, and sufice to say, I'm glad I did. When this beer is fresh, it's fantastic. I've had it faded as well, which is a markedly different beer. If you can get this beer fresh, it competes with ANY IPA in America, including my favorite in Columbus IPA. Instant entry into my top 5, and honestly, it's neck and neck with Columbus now.

There, I said it.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a standard pint glass.

A - pours a fairly clear light orange color with a 1.5 finger slightly off white head that vanishes fairly quickly leaving a small foam film with some CO2 pockets visualized.

S - lots of hops; citrusy and tons of tropical fruit

T - very hop forward IPA with a firm, somewhat rough, bitterness paired with some citrus and tons of tropical notes throughout. A nice bitterness lingers on the palate - for a long time. Contrary to them listing this as a smooth bitterness, I feel it's slightly harsh like a Columbus bitterness - which I really enjoy in an ipa.

M - just a touch of slickness, but fairly light indicating a nice dry IPA

D - Somewhat high. The 7% ABV is well hidden by being fairly crisp, which equates to being super easy to drink.

Overall, a very nice IPA. It seems a lot of breweries are playing with the tropical hops like citra and galaxy and pairing them with amarillo, cascade and other citrus hops. Ithe aroma is fantastic and reminds me a lot of Zombie Dust because of all the Citra hops. I had this side by side with a bottle of 01/03/12 bottled PtE and the aroma in this far exceeds that of PtE, which I was surprised with.

Absolutely delicious. Beautiful amber appearance with a nice creamy head, that melts after a few minutes, leaving a nice lacing. The aroma is bursting with ripe typical fruits. Taste follows bouquet, and is joined by a gripping, assertive, hoppy, grapefruit rind bite. Great balance here. The astringency lingers as the fruit basket melts and morphs into caramel, toffee sweetness. The finish goes on, and on... Really beautiful.

This already has high marks, but deserves to be in the ranks with the best IPAs. It's on the sweeter, stickier side and may not appeal to fans who prefer a more austere style. If Trillium produced this, people would be flipping their wigs!...at a fraction of the price. Nice.

T: Very tropical lots of fruit juiciness then a little dry but mango and papaya are noticeable then a cracker dry maltiness

Pours a clean orange-ish to yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, orange and pineapple like citrus. In the taste, orange and pineapple like citrus hops. A small hop bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry pine and citrus hop in the aftertaste. BIG HOPS! Big citrus and a small dry pine, quite enjoyable.

Live tasting review.

A - Pours a darker golden/orange color with a one inch head and good retention. Also left a fair amount of lacing behind.

S - Smell was AWESOME - gives a strong citrus smell with a profound Hop blast to it. I pick up the grapefruit and orange right away with hints of others I can't describe.

T - Hits you right away with a bitter hop/citrus blast and mellows out shortly after. Very smooth with a subtle aftertaste. Alcohol is very mild to me but noticeable. This is one very good tasting IPA.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation as well.

O - I must say, this was an amazing beer from start to finish. Well put together and balanced. This is now one of my favorite IPA's. And to think, I only picked this up for a trade request and grabbed a single to try for myself.

A: Light colored IPA. Two finger retention of white head, lacing is decent but disappears quickly

S: AMAZING! Lots of fruits: orange and grapefruit jump out and a strong pine with light floral.

T: Excellent. Hoppy up front which fades nicely to a smooth drink, hints of grapefruit. All followed by delicious malt!

M: Very very smooth and easy to drink. Goes down really, really quick. Every taste bud gets hit by delicious hoppyness.

O: Great IPA and located in Ohio. Always grabbing a sixer at my local bottle shop!

Poured into a SA perfect pint. Thanks to bb8189 for including this in your BIF box.

Pours a clear amber with orange hues and a creamy white head that clings to the side of the glass and slowly fades to a thin lacing over the top of the beer. The aroma is a burst of grapefruit, peach, and other tropical fruit with a touch of citrus. The aroma really surprised me and was awesome. The flavors include grapefruit, a toffee malt backing, citrus and pine. Medium body with medium-low carbonation and a dry lingering finish. Overall I knew nothing about this beer and it was an extra, but I really enjoyed it and would definitely seek it out again if I had the chance.

Pours a slightly hazy gold with a nice white head and sticky lacing.
Smells mostly of citrus, grapefruit, cotton candy, mild spice, just an amazing balance of contrasting smells.
Taste is citrus up front, followed by a lingering, dry finish. The whole thing comes together perfectly. Feels smooth and creamy with a nice level of carbonation.
This brew is one of the best IPA's ever. Just enough citrus to make it interesting, smooth sweetness and lingering bitterness to make it complete. I want more. Lot's more.

Aroma: Powdery lemon zest, oranges, and floral hop notes pop out of the glass. Powerful and aggressive American hop aromatics that continue to remind me of candied oranges. Minimal sweet caramel malt aroma blends with the citrusy hop aromatics. Clean fermentation character.

Appearance: Crystal clear amber pour with straw highlights. Low bone white head that retains well.

Flavor: Aggressive leafy and resiny citrus hop punch with notes of lemon, orange, and orange rind. Balance is to the hop bitterness. Finish is bone dry and aftertaste is clean but bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly oily, and medium-high carbonation. No alcohol heat.

Overall impression: West coast, easy drinking, back loaded hop blast IPA. Really good beer that is easy drinking and continues to demonstrate that the Midwest can crank out some good hoppy beers.

Dark amber color, slightly cloudy. Full aromatic hop nose -- sets the stage for a taste that does not disappoint. Strong citrus hops, grapefruit flavor -- exactly what I hope to find in a WC IPA. A nice bitterness that lingers long after swallow. Appropriate carbonation.

One of my favorites. Even though it is not available locally, I try to maintain a small stock of this gem in my beer fridge. Props to the bartender at Brews in Granville, Ohio who recommended this one.

Pours a light orange color with a finger and a half of white head, very clear.

Smell is very citrus and tropical like, orange, grapefruit, pine, pinapple

Taste is bright citrus, lemon and orange, malt take a back seat is a correct slogan for this beer, piney bitterness, light malt comes through towards the end. almost a light spicyness to it in the end. Really tasty stuff!

Medium light feel, with adequate carbonation, finishes a slightly dry

nice stuff, would grab it a lot if it was available to me.
