A - A very standard looking IPA. Clear amber and bubbles constantly floating to the top. This could be why I am not getting much lace but the head is a great 1/2 inch that settles to a thick lace ring.

S - Rich in tropical and citrus hops with not very much malt so it's fairly strong and bitter. Smell is great.

T - Kind if underwhelming actually the beer has a strong alcohol taste similar to other tropical DIPA's yet this is an IPA. It does go down smooth enough with sweet hops then balancing cracker like malts that seem to dry the palate with a mildly bittering finish. It's good but could use more balance...

M - Despite the cloying alcohol it goes down smooth. Oliy is a great descriptive Medium bodied and chewy.

Overall nothing really meriting a "world class status" but an above average IPA that could use more balance. Worth picking up if you like "Captain Lawrence DIPA"

Slightly pungent citrus aroma. Off white head turns into a sticky, newly spun spiderweb lace that sits on top of a two-month-old-penny color. Hoppy slightly oncoming sucker punch followed by an oily stick-your-tongue-on-9-volt-rayovac aftertaste. My go-to "session IPA" that leaves with with a late afternoon of regrets.

A little disappointed in this one. Maybe just not the right day for it, as I drank a few all day ipas before it.

This pours dark for an IPA with such little malt flavor.

Smell is citra and Amarillo hops. Very fruity. It's juicy, and those are certainly the right hops for this malt bill.

Taste is Citrusy with the Amarillo hops coming through. Maybe some dried apricot.

Finishes dry. Good mouth feel.

22oz bottle courtesy of thegrogbog (thanks Tim!). Apparently this won an IPA contest at Fatheads, but I also heard that Fathead's beers weren't included in the competition so this shouldn't indicate any position over Headhunter. Still a good accomplishment for the Brew Kettle though.

It pours a clear pale golden color with a thick frothy foam. Lots of dry clumps of foam on the walls of the glass too. The aroma is sort of malty for an IPA, but still has good tropical fruit type hops. A little muted though, the malts seem to have taken over while in the bottle.

Well balanced flavor, not exactly a bitter take on the style, but it makes up for it in flavor. Pretty solidly midwestern styled, tasty but unfortunately not as spectacular from the bottle as it surely must be on tap. That said, my glass emptied very quickly. An easy pounder with enough flavor to satisfy a beer lover, maybe could use a little more hops muscle for those that crave a sharper edge.

served in a Kiuchi "pint" glass. sampled on 9.22.11 and reviewed from notes.

A - golden color with half-inch, foamy, white head; good retention and heavy lacing

S - apricot, pineapple, sweet overall

T - mild tropical flavors not quite as strong as aroma would suggest; a bit of maltiness in the middle with a mildly dry, bittering finish

M - light bodied with active, moderate carbonation; crisp overall mouthfeel; bitter linger that sits at the front of the mouth

O - good flavors but not wild about the lingering bitterness. just not my style i'm afraid but a very drinkable beer. not as crazy as some people about this though.

Served this 12 oz. brown bottle in a Sam Adams glass. No date. The body was bright golden honey with an off-white head. There was a lot of carbonation rising from the etching in the glass. Very pretty.

The smell was citrus. Satsuma and pink grapefruit juice. Dank, organic hops. Hints of alcohol. Rich and fragrant.

The taste was deep caramel topped with pretty soft citrus hops. Pineapple. Not harsh and very clean. Not as intensely hoppy as I had expected. There is a lot of hype about this beer out of Ohio, but given the chance I might just as soon grab a Columbus IPA over the White Rajah.

The mouthfeel was medium to light bodied, actually a tad thinner than expected. Modest carbonation.

12 oz bottle listed at 6.8% ABV picked up at the brewpub.

A - solid gold with zero haze. Very nice white foamy head with good retention. Not much in the way of lacing

S - blast of pine and resin. I got a little hint of grapefruit but thus beer smelled nothing like the previous reviews of other people. May be an off day for my nostrils but thus thing was a forest in a glass

T - just a hint of sweetness in this dry dry IPA with a pleasant 70 IBUs balancing it very well. A hint of astringency on the knish but otherwise this was great.

M - clean and crisp with just about the right amount of carbonation. No complaints here.

O - a very very well made IPA that I had fresh and enjoyed. I'm a bit biased against a really piney and resinous aroma, which was the only thing I could really knock this beer for, but it is a solid beer that I plan on drinking more of for sure.

Had this on tap at a local pub.

The beer is very clear, and orange-apricot in color. A small head of eggshell color was minimal and not long lasting. A small amount of lacing was deposited on the glass as I sipped.

The nose isn't particularly strong, but its definitely hoppy. Strong citrus notes are prominent, with little in the way of malt making it into the nose.

The taste is very hoppy, and it's pretty citrusy. If I had to guess, I'd say there is centennial, simcoe and amarillo in there ... at least that's what it tastes like to me. Heavily weighted to the hop side ... not a good balance. A bit more malt would've added to the mouthfeel as well, which is medium-light.

Overall, I found White Rajah as a decent IPA, a bit unbalanced towards the hop side, but enjoyable. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're a hop-head.

Na Zdravje!

Nice deep gold with a tight thin white head. The smell has lots of powdery sweet malt and even more grapefruit. Very faint pine needles and lemons. Hm its bitter. Almost unexpectedly. I want more of the underlying notes of bitter pine, bitter grapefruit, and tart lemon rind to come to the front, but its not. Im not sure about this one. The bitterness is drinkable, but not the best.

Man I wish this had more fruit. This bottle seems to be dominated by more of the pine than the citrus.

12 oz bottle, no date. Bought warm in Ohio but in the fridge the last week. Clear golden yellow color, fairly pale. White head. Big hop aroma and flavor, fruity, floral. All hoping the taste, no malt flavor at all, I'd like more balance. Thinner mouthfeel, I'd prefer more body.

12 oz. bottle into a snifter, thanks to ColdPoncho. No best by/bottled on date.

A: Very thin. Very light golden orange, kind of resembles apples juice. Small one finger head is pretty thick but fades quickly, decent lacing. The thinness/clarity is a little bit off-putting somehow.

S: Citrus juice! Blood orange, grapefruit, pineapple, Some grass and pine. Buttery malts. Smells great, best part of the beer for sure.

T: More muted than the smell. Lemon-lime, and pineapple comes out more. A hint of sweetness (honey?) before a very bitter finish. Doesn't taste bad, but something's missing.

M: Pretty thin actually, but it has that nice sharp IPA finish.

O: Not too bad, but the smell set up expectations that the taste didn't meet. I really like the hops that make up this nose, but something was missing from the taste.

Thanks to pest for this brew. Poured 12 oz into FFF pint glass.

Pours fluffy two finger head. Clear deep amber in color. Very sticky lacing on the glass. Lots of floral hops in the nose. Sweet malts and piney hops at the end. Malts come through more in the flavor. Hops take more of a backseat. Pine and floral hops mixed together at the end. Lighter body, good carbonation. A little thin in the feel. Very nice beer to start off spring. Solid overall, glad I got to try.

A: Golden orange, slight haze.
S: Pineapple, mango, a lot of tropical fruitiness
T: Fruitiness upfront that fades to a bitterness. Grapefruit, tropical. Dry malt backbone with some bread notes
M: light to medium, a little gritty
O: Amazing aroma but the flavor is just okay with a harsh bitterness.
