Of course there's some gimmickry going on with the additions of chocolate, coconut and milk sugars, but I don't think I care. My senses are completely underneath the spell of this "Mounds" tasting stout and I'm not about to make many apologies for it.

The Brew Kettle's "Kitka pours a dark bark brown color with a billowing arid head rising in the beer's wake. It's chocolaty upstart is that quintessential aroma of Belgian chocolate with faint molasses and Kailua. Its taste is not so chocolaty as caramel, toffee and nougat round out the sweeter complexities early on the palate.

What ensues is a wonderment of developing taste as the stout unfolds on the palate, going from bittersweet chocolate and towards tastes of coconut, vanilla, coffee and macadamia. Deeply saturating on the palate, the sweetness and complexity rivals that of dessert as the ale trends drier and sweeter as the late palate develops.

In much dessert-like fashion, the medium-full stout seems sensible and drinkable, lacking the booze and residual sweetness that's commonly associated with such after dinner beer, however the decadent taste, lavish texture and soft elegance in robust attitude makes the stout ideal in replace for dessert. Its long chocolate and coconut finish extends well into the next sip.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, toasted coconut, cocoa, vanilla, cream, caramel, toffee, light coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, lactose, and coconut/chocolate notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, toasted coconut, cocoa, vanilla, cream, caramel, toffee, light coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, toasted coconut, cocoa, vanilla, cream, caramel, toffee, light coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, lactose, and coconut/chocolate flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding coconut milk stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, lactose, and coconut/chocolate flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Good beer. Seems to be a bit too much coconut in that it really sweetens the beer a bit more than it seems it should. Regarldess, it's an easy drinker for sure, and a pleasant one at that.

On tap at Melt Bar and Grilled in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

This one pours an inky dark black, with a small off-white head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like an Almond Joy bar, really, so much sweet creamy coconut, vanilla, and chocolate.

A milk stout definitely seems like the best addition for coconut, because the lactose just makes the coconut feel pretty creamy and nougaty, like an Almond Joy. This doesn't exactly win as a "beer" per se, but it does hit on every flavor advertised. It's very sweet- it would be hard to drink a ton of this.

This is medium bodied, with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. It's slightly thin, but not super detrimentally so.

Definitely a cool beer, but hard to get thru a ton of.

Opens with a fierce pop. Pours a dark brown color with a light off white head. Aroma of sweet malts with hints of cocoa and perhaps vanilla. Vanilla and cocoa in the flavor also, coconut and milk sugar lending towards vanilla element. Sweet, toasty, has good depth of flavor. Highly carbed and a bit too dry. Overall, this is a pretty decent brew needs less priming sugar though.

Rich, roasty, cocoa in aroma. The toasted coconut pales a bit.

Flavor is decidedly coconut milk based, like a flashback to Bacardi on the beach. Cocoa is more subdued, in favor of the coconut rum flava, mon!

Very adjunct laden. The coconut overwhelms, giving the exaggerated impression of an extract. Definitely a guilty pleasure of a beer.

Bottle reads 5.75% ABV into a pint glass
Pour is pretty nice head is a bit fizzy which settles to nothing rather quickly with a slight mocha ring. Fairly dark shade almost pitch black. Smells of vanilla and toasted coconut sweetness milky sugar and some cocoa nibs. Wow I am impressed they got so much flavor it almost taste like a mounds chocolate bar full of milk chocolate and creamy coconut filling. Body is pretty nice not too watery and each sip is a treat very creamy.

Overall had to send an update to the bros I have no idea why this is labeled a porter when it clearly is a milk stout. Very balanced and sweet I wish I bought more than one :(
