Purchased a six pack at Brew Kettle, Strongsville, OH. No sales receipt.
Bottle marked 2146 B1 2231 but no clear date. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – Very pleasing piney aroma which is noticeable at least a foot away. The roasted maltiness is only noticeable when actually sniffing the head.
Head – large (Maximum four cm, aggressive pour), tan, dense, good retention, slowly diminishing to a lacy 1.3 cm ring being fed by effervescence and a thin layer with a single heaped rocky island.
Lacing – excellent. Wide complete rings of tiny bubbles.
Body – dark mahogany, clear, effervescent.
Flavor – roasted malt and some pine. No alcohol, no diacetyl. Ends with a moderate bitterness with a long hang time.
Palate – medium, creamy, lively carbonation.

This is a highly enjoyable brew, hoppy and malty and flavorful. The only downside is that it’s not distributed where I live.

Appearance 4.75, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4.75, Palate 4.25, Overall 4.5.

L: A nice dark mahogany, decent half finger head, leaves fast

S: Sweet, vanilla notes, hop present comes second with juicy fruity notes

T: Full flavored taste, much sweeter than I was expecting, hoppy juicy flavor comes second to balance it out, finishes with a slight roasted malt taste

F: Crisp and clean, what you would expect

O: A good black IPA however a little too sweet for my liking, would have enjoyed something more roasted. Seems like the caramel malt was definitely pushing things towards the sweeter side.

L: No beer looks better than a black IPA and this is no exception
S: Roasty with hints of caramel hops
T: Great roasted malt flavors backed by subtle pine and hops
F: Probably a little more slick than I would like for the style
O: Black IPA is my favorite beer style and this is, in my opinion, one of the best representations of the style that is out there. I love it.

Dark color, almost like coke. little to no head. This IPA is smooth like a jazz singer but string line a line backer. Taste is great and nothing to not like about this beer.

The Black Rajah is not as good as the white....but still quite tasty. I bought a bottle of this at Andersons in Reynoldsburg, OH. It poured an opaque black with ecru head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent has some roast and slight pine. The taste starts sweeter with roast then finishes slightly bitter. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's quite nice.
