I'm not sure if it's the small batches they brew or the higher abv with 6% and 23 IBUs but this beer has character all day. It's Oktofest, the German American fest bier meant to be drank by the sixer. Overall impression is I like this beer, let's start with the appearance, nutty aromatics sugars seem balanced with earthy/herbal hops. I'm loving life in this moment with this beer, it's everything I want from an Ofest. Crisp, drinkable, and everlasting refreshing thirst quenching. Well brewed clean and meant for a 1/2 to whole liter, go get some clean no residual sugars left on the palate it has enough alcohol to keep you interested and enough balance to drink all day.

There's a strong look to this beer, at least for the style, though the body is on the moderate lighter side of the scale. It's almost orange but a few shades closer to yellow, deep and clear. On top grows and rests a heavy, pocked pillow of yellow-tinted head, which retains itself for the duration and casts down strong patching as it falls.
The aroma is pretty strong, offering something earthy up front, not quite spicy but almost. Along with the earth is some bread, doughy but with a nice, toasty aspect, and caramel. The sweetness is moderate and complex, with a bit of vanilla sneaking in and toffee. There's a light nutty sort of something, and hops are present in a mostly floral note with some herbal notes complementing.
It loses a little bit of the toast and the complexity of the sweetness, but this is a good Marzen for sure. Breads are doughy and with the hops are more like sourdough. Herbal and floral hops notes are still present, complementing and balancing the caramel sweetness, while just a hint of toffee also comes out.
The feel is bright, crisp and clean in a medium body with a steady carbonation, and pretty smooth to boot.

12 oz bottle poured into snifter

A: burnt amber in color excellent clarity small inch or so head that settles to a film

S: lots of malts doughy bready some cinnamon maybe some nutmeg

T: toasted malty bready sweet with a little bit of a clove cinnamon taste

M: Very light but with a bitterish aftertaste

O: Its a nice change of pace from the hoppy beers but its not something I want to drink more than a couple of its spices aren't doing much for me.

Crisp and clear, perhaps a shade darker orange than most marzens. Aroma is malty and grassy. Quite nice body to this. One drawback some marzens can have is a watery body, but this doesn't have that problem at all. Chewy and full of flavor. Tasty blend of malts with just enough hops to make you notice at the end. 6% ABV. Very nice marzen!

I love oktoberfests and I was a little disappointed by this one but it's still pretty good. Pours a clear amber orange color with two fingers of head, modest retention and lacing.

Smell is relatively faint but definitely dominated by caramel. A little grain but mostly caramel sweetness.

Taste is mostly the same. Lots of caramel, a little grain but mostly like caramel water.

Mouthfeel is ok- medium body, moderate carbonation. I wouldn't get this again- barktoberfest is richer and more complex so if you're in ohio do that or Great Lakes.

Oktofest brewed by The Brew Kettle Taproom & Smokehouse / Production Works. This Oktoberfest pours out a nice brown color with a small white head. I really like the copper color of this brew. The ABV of Oktofest is 6.00%, not much lacing to this brew. Now the smell of this Oktoberfest is rich with roasted grians and malts. There is also a nice sweetness and some hops to the smell of this brew. The look and the smell of this Oktoberfest is really inviting. Now for the taste , it is bold but smooth with flavors. You first pick up on the roasted grians and malts. Then there is a nice light hop finish. This is a nice rich roasted malts and grains brew. There is a lot going on in this brew. I really like how smooth this Oktoberfest brew goes down. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a real nice balance to it. The mouth feel of Oktofest is roasted , bold, smooth and refreshing. It is also hard to pick up on the 6.00% ABV in this brew. Overall I'm giving Oktofest 4.5 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. The Brew Kettle Taproom & Smokehouse / Production Works, did a real nice job with this Oktoberfest brew. If you are a fan of roasted brews look this one up.

As for an Oktoberfest, this ranks amongst my very favorite. It seems to me to exemplify the style as it sticks to the strong malty flavor the season calls for. The malt starts a bit sweet with full on barley taste. The flavor than shows up grainy with a bit of toasted biscuit and nut. Perhaps not worth $18 a sixer but we'll worth $6 a pint.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a transparent copper with a slight haze; fluffy white head fades and leaves nice lacing and retention. The aromas are full of caramel malts. Lots of bread and grains. The flavors match the nose and are pretty vibrant. Lots of caramel and butterscotch. There's hints of chocolate and toffee as well. There's a kiss of hops giving it a subtle spiciness. There's some grass in the mix as well, giving it an earthiness. Very clean flavors. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied; active carbonation; very smooth. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Very easy to drink.

This is a great example of the style. I will look forward to enjoying this one once the weather becomes a little cooler and the leaves start to fall. Well crafted. Recommended.

I got a finger of off white head. The body was the rich orangey brown of fall leaves. Head retention and lacing were nothing of note.

Up front this beer was malty and caramelized well. It had strong toasted and earthy notes as well.

Taste on this was really to the nose.

This beer was medium bodied. It didn't leave any film.

Solid beer, but a little transient on the palate.
