This is a very solid beer. Substantially smoother and more balanced then regular General Sherman. In a way, I almost found it to be too smooth as I like the bolder IPAs. Nonetheless, I feel any IPA fan should try this offering. Great balance of floral and hop notes. Easy drinkibility.

This is a fantastic IPA when fresh. Gotta be sure to date check these. But, the brew itself is stellar. Medium body. Great hop bite, nice combo of a resiny taste met with citrus hop. Very subtle malt, executed just right for this style. This is vastly superior to the regular Sherman.

Bottle of unknown date into a Spieglau IPA glass. Nice color and mouthfeel. Enjoyable taste that starts very citrusy and finishes a little spicy. But where's the nose??? This is a DDH beer, so was expecting to be overwhelmed by aroma. I guess it's possible the bottle is old. I'd be willing to try again, but only if I know it's fresh.

Appearance - Pours hazy and dull orange in color with an off-white, finger width head. Good retention, eventually breaking down to a fair layer of velvety looking surface suds. Exhibits a nice amount of lacing consisting of broken sheets to spots, with good stick.

Smell - Wonderful aroma, hitting on citrus and fresh, leafy character. Lesser floral notes and a light, bready undertone.

Taste - More leafy and floral on the tongue, while the citrus character takes a backseat. Light woodiness along with a low-level spice bite. Malts are pretty well buried, hinting at a generic 'white bread' sweetness. Mild pith bitterness in the finish to go along with the more earthy hop overtone.

Mouthfeel - Close to full body with low to moderate carbonation. Smooth texture gives way to a semi-dry finish.

Overall - Not bad, but for my taste it could have used more citrus pop, as the earthier elements tend to run the show here. Dry-hopping is evident, and gives this beer a nice, fresh feel. I'd encourage anyone to give this a go and hope they enjoy it more than I did, because it certainly has a distinct quality about it even though the flavor profile doesn't quite match up with what I find ideal.

Had this on a recent work trip to Fresno. The plan was to review three beers and then have a few tasters. I ended up having two taster flights after the three beers, then took some bottles and cans back home. It ended up being a pretty expensive trip. Online description called it, “DDH (Double Dry Hopped) Gen. Sherman is our classic West Coast Style IPA unfiltered and dry hopped a second time with additional Simcoe, Crystal, and Cascade hops. Dry hopping lends extra aroma and flavor to any beer. Double Dry Hopping this IPA gives it an even bigger floral citrus flavor and aroma that all hop heads love. Enjoy!” Even though I didn’t like the regular version (3.33), I was looking forward to this one.

Poured a medium amber clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white rocky head when I got it. Just a few bubbles creeping up from the sides of the glass. Almost-perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled lemon zest, mandarin orange, peach, floral, perfume, spicy Simcoe, woody pine, herbal and menthol cough drops. (Smell - 4.00)

Taste was not as quite as good as the nose. Boozy, mandarin orange, woody pine, peach, spicy Simcoe, herbal, bitter green leaf, perfume, lemon zest and lime. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Dry, woody finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was a solid overall West Coast IPA overall. (Overall - 4.00)
