A: Lots of chocolate, followed by moderate roast coffee and vanilla beans, along with moderate roast malts – finishing moderately sweet.

A: Black color, with a moderate light tan head that has decent retention with light lacing in the glass.

T: Lots of chocolate upfront with moderate roast coffee and vanilla, moderate malt flavor with some sweetness.

M: Med-big bodied, moderately light carbonation, pretty smooth with barely any alcoholic warmth.

O: Tasty; the beer has huge amounts of chocolate and the coffee and vanilla well compliment the roasted malt, though it does finish a bit sweet and drinks more like a dessert beer!

Poured into a 4 oz snifter. Black as night color, coffee up front smell. The coffee here is the focal point of this beer. Taste wise you get coffee up front, roasted flavors, cocoa nibs, malty and a little boozy; but not overpowering. It is a little sweet and chocolaty with coffee. For and 11% I was expecting it to be a little bit more boozy but I think it was just right. Wish I had another to cellar to see how better it would be! Cheers!

On tap at Spokeasy Public House

A: Pours dark brown, essentially black, no light passes through, with a creamy brown head that settles to a light layer and laces well.

S: Big fresh ground coffee dominates, a little roasty malt, and hints of smoke, dark chocolate, and vanilla.

T: Coffee hits big again, earthy, a little spice, hints of dark chocolate, light vanilla. More bitter than I was expecting.

M: Towards the fuller end of medium body, moderately low carbonation, pretty smooth.

O: It's not bad, but for me the coffee dominates too much, really hides all but the lightest hints of chocolate and vanilla.
