My first Tioga beer.

A: Dirty Brown (in a good way) on medium pour; good 2 inch head.

S: Some Coconut, Vanilla, Barrel.

T: At first, blanced coffee, which is not present in the nose, dominates, but not in an overpowering way. As the beer warms, light coconut emerges. Last third of my glass, the whiskey really makes itself known, and in a blunt blunderbuss way. I love barrel aged beers, but the whiskey here seems heavy handed and dare I say 'cheap.'

O: Given a stout named 'Cake Rush' I was expecting a dark chocolate cake made with good whiskey. However, I found the barrel aging heavy handed and unrefined. I have another bottle and will see if with age the harsh whiskey flavors recede.

Pours a deep jet black with minimal head. The nose is of tasted malts, coffee, toasted coconut, light whiskey and barrel. Taste of coffee, dark malts, creamy vanilla, toffee and light whiskey/barrel wood. Not getting much of the coconut to taste. I feel like the coffee is definitely masking the taste of it. But the nose on this thing is spectacular and the coconut comes through bold. Medium to full body with a nice creamy texture. Very smooth and silky to finish. Very very nice beer here! Nice work TS.

Huge thanks to MilkManMike for generously trading this one to me! I'd been on the hunt for awhile on this one but the problem with that is the expectation is always super high. That being said, it met expectations and I'll seek it out again.

Pours out of the bottle with a TON of carbonation, you can hear the bubbles fighting in the bottle as it pours. Tan head formed and quickly dissolved into a ring around the glass that was gone by the second sip. All that carbonation left the show pretty damn quickly which was really surprising. Coconut, chocolate and whiskey BOMB in the nose. Picking up some vanilla and smokiness as well. Taste is as doubt this is German Chocolate Cake dipped in whiskey. As this warms the coconut becomes the overly dominant alpha making its presence known. The coconut was very balanced at 55 degrees but not so much as it warms. Mouthfeel is disappointing, very thin. Feels thin, coats thin...just thin. Overall this is a very delicious brew and I was happy I had my cake before dinner. Next bottle will be saved for a winter dessert. Although, this shit aint easy to snag. Luckily MilkManMike is a solid dude and didn't want half of my cellar like every other dude I messaged to get this beast. This would be over the top if it had more fudge-like viscosity and then it'd be spot on to some German chocolate cake.

Incredible beer here!

Pour is midnight black with a small creamy brown head that vanishes within 20 seconds of pouring. Not very much lacing on this one.

Smell is HUGE!! Big time coconut and vanilla and a nice whiskey / bourbon aroma. Some chocolate, molasses, and coffee is in there also.

Taste is as advertised. It is definitely a sweet son of a bitch with the vanilla and coconut being the predominant flavors. A hint of coffee and bitter chocolate is in there also. Molasses, roasted oak, and the whiskey barrel is quite noticeable.

Feel is very nice. Full bodied and has that lovely thick and chewy feel to it. Drinks like a dessert.

Overall an incredible offering. Never have even heard of this brewery but man they nailed this one. If you are a fan of sweet beers and vanilla / coconut you will love this.

A: Whiskey barrel, with vanilla and oak, followed by moderate toasted coconuts, milk chocolate and light vanilla.

A: Black color, totally opaque with a thin off-white head that has adequate retention.

T: Lots of barrel presence upfront, with lots of vanilla and coconut, followed by milk chocolate, slightly sweet and coffee. There is a faint roasted bitterness on the finish.

M: Medium bodied with a slightly thin mouthfeel. However, the beer is incredibly smooth and really hides the alcohol well.

O: Awesome; Tioga Sequoia makes great dessert beers and this one does not disappoint. The beer manages to combine two great beers Cake and Rush into one super tasty offering.

The taste is coconut and bourbon and smooth all the way through.
The mouthfeel is smooth.
This is to me great done BBA coconut stout. Don't need to pull any punches here. it starts out great and finishes the same way.

Smell: big barrel presence oak vanilla whiskey toasted coconut milk chocolate smooth coffee vanilla icing. This smells like a dessert in a glass.

Taste: the taste follows the nose exactly. Big barrel presence big vanilla and coconut flavors milk chocolate whiskey smooth cold brewed coffee. This is a dessert made with whiskey that was made into a barrel aged beer. Taste is absolutely fantastic.

Feel: medium body super smooth and easy drinking for the abv. Really the only negative with this beer is the thinish mouthfeel but I'm really knit picking with this because everything else with this beer is pretty spot on.

Overall: When they say it taste like a German chocolate cake aged in whiskey barrels they weren't lying. If you like barrel aged stouts then you need to try this because it's absolutely fantastic!
