Smell hoppy with a hint of fruit.
Taste slightly bitter followed by a blend of sweet fruit (mostly cherry).
Feels refreshing and smooth, not dry.
Overall great beer for a good day and will go wonderful with a bbq.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Tioga-Sequoia 13-oz. tulip
From: Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company in Fresno, Calif.
Price: $12 for a 6-pack
Purchased: Nov. 16, 2018
Consumed: Nov. 20, 2018
Reviewed as: American Pale Wheat Ale
Misc.: No canned on date

Picked up a 6-pack of this after a night of drinking at Tioga-Sequoia on a work trip. Had a pint earlier in the night and remarked, “I swear this is different from what I had last. This is really good.” Later figured out that I had a 6-pack of it two years prior, but they discontinued that version. Apparently this was the new and improved one. I gave that one a 3.75 on Untappd, but never reviewed it. Gave the new version a 4.00 on Untappd. Untappd description called it, “Half Dome in Yosemite National Park is one of the most iconic and recognizable images in California. Like the magnificent granite dome, our Half Dome California Wheat is an original. It has evolved over the years, and finally reached its peak through a partnership with the Fresno County Farm Bureau, which provides the locally sourced Stone Fruit that makes Half Dome so unique. Go on an adventure with this smooth, refreshing and juicy wheat beer, flavored from the heart of California, and take your taste buds to new heights.”

Poured a medium yellow hazy color with four fingers of rocky off-white head, which dissipated quickly. Calm setting underneath with no noticeable bubbles. Bad watery lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.50)

Smelled big whiffs of stone fruit, peach, apricot, pear, guava, mango, pineapple, blood orange, floral, buttered white bread and hints of spicy clove. More stone fruit, buttered white bread and peach from the can. (Smell - 3.75)

First thing I noticed on the taste was how carbonated it was. Got stone fruit, peach, pear, apricot, guava, blood orange, spicy clove and buttered white bread. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Juicy finish. Got smoother as it warmed. (Feel - 4.00)

This was outstanding for the style in my mind. Clean and crisp, perfect for hot days. (Overall - 4.00)

Bottle poured into a Tioga Sequioa Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.

S: Spice, big time clove, banana, nice wheat twang, light floral and faintly citrusy notes, and a touch of sweetness.

T: First thing you notice is the spice, lots of clove, almost nutmeg, wheat twang, a hint of lemon, soft touch of stone fruit, and a little honey sweetness.

M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Definitely a step up from the old recipe. If they could tone down the spice and bump up the fruit just a bit it would be money.
