Pours a dark brown...pretty much black with a medium, light-tan head that goes down quickly. Scent is packed with cocoa aroma. Lovely chocolate cocoa and cocoa nibs with the sweet scent of vanilla bean. Dark malt aromas with no hops at all. Slightly roasted... this is leading to be a good beer (very surprising considering my past experiences with Sequoia beers). This beer also has a pleasant aroma of coffee grounds. Taste is just as it smells...I'm so happy! I finally have a beer from my hometown that I can boast about. Initially, the chocolate and vanilla flavors are spot-on. They taste authentic and not like cheap extract. Great blend of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla bean. Along with these great flavors, the malt profile is spectacular. Easy drinking, low in alcohol, and ABUNDANT in flavor. Mouthfeel is surprisingly full. Thought it would be much thinner considering the ABV. Medium bodied with a slightly weird finish on the roof of the mouth...could be from the nibs and beans. Overall, once I took a sip of this beer I thought of one other highly acclaimed beer... Victory at Sea. This beer is like the little brother of Ballast Point's Victory at Sea (this is a HUGE COMPLIMENT for a brewery I don't normally care for). This is an awesome porter. I will be purchasing many more.

Poured out of a 22 ounce bomber. This Robust Porter poured a chocolate brown color. Taste was roasty, malty, and slightly burnt. Medium bodied with a burnt smell. Had this beer in the fridge for a few months; therefore, that might have affected the results. Preferred the taste when I had it on tap.

On nitro tap at BC's Pizza & Beer

A: Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a creamy light brown head that hangs around and leaves some thick lacing.

S: Mild dark fruit, vanilla, roasted malt, milk chocolate, and toffee sweetness.

T: Roasted malt, dark and milk chocolate, hint of burnt toast, vanilla, a little fruity, and some toffee sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, creamy smooth.

O: Pretty solid brew made even better with nitro.

Nice middle of the road porter. Would like a bigger roast prescence, but a solid brew.

Chocolatey nose. Seems more bitter/less sweet than the average porter. The cocoa/chocolate is there but I'm not picking up on the vanilla. It's not getting better as it warms up. Like eating a piece of burnt toast. Meh.

Got it in a 22 oz bomber. Poured a nice dark brown color, not much of a head. You hear cocoa vanilla and you think there's going to be a lot of artificial flavoring but there is none. Disappointed that there wasn't more smell to this one. Very mild but what there is is nice. More complex than many of the porters I've had.
