Franchise brewed for Agassiz ( Now New Manitoba Brewering).

A moderately hard pour put a light copper ale in the glass with a nice frothy cap that lasted well enough for a commercial premium ale....light lacing on the glass....soft carbonation allows the flavor profile to develop on the palate.

Aroma was pleasant ; sweet and grainy toasted malts over fruity yeast esters and grassy hoppiness ( and a slight vegital smell lurking).

Mouth feel is on the thin side of medium bodied, lightly creamy in texture and very smooth and mellow in profile delivery.

Taste is well balenced and reminisant of a traditional cream Ale with sweet roasted, caramel malts played off against the grassy hops and distinct cidery-fruity yeast by products....finish is wet with a light bittering and a caramel after taste.

This is the first micro or mass produced Cream ale that I have tasted that is fairly true to this uniqely Canadian style and verrrry drinkable...I like it..has everything a session ale/lager needs..good flavour profile, satisfying and drinkable....very much in the same niche’ as Robert Simpson ale. I’ll buy more for sessions and get togethers. Northern has proven it can make a good mass produced super premium beer with Red Maple, Edelbrau and now, Catfish. I just wish they'd bring back Edelbrau...it would make a perfect matched pair Ale/lager session beers.

Catfish Cream Ale poured a deep copper colour, with a distinct sweet malt character and extremely precise hopping. It is produced under contract by Northern Breweries for the Agassiz Brewery in Manitoba.

Easy drinking, and well-balanced, full of flavour, and colour. Virtually no aftertaste, and thats the way it should be. Excellent feel to the palate. With a slithly bubbly taste, not like soda, but different than the average beer. A very easy drinki to take with any meat, especially fish and chicken. And can be drank over and over again on the patio of your local pub or in the backyard. Cheers!
