This place is a very nice, little beer bar in Canton, right near Baltimore, MD. They always have special drafts that you will not find anywhere else in MD. They almost always have at least one cask. Their food is excellent! (I always get the seared tuna!) Free WIFI! They have espn college games, every NHL game, & nfl sunday ticket on their multiple tv's! They have specials all the time, firkins, and brewery takeovers! Just a wonderful place! I will continue to frequent the Stackhouse, no complaints at all!

I love this place. They have a great tap list and amazing happy hour. All drafts are $2.00 off. This is my go to place. Street parking is pretty easy around this area. The food is pretty decent with nightly specials. Hudson Street is definitely overshadowed by Max's but it is worth the visit. Make sure you check out this hidden gem off the beaten path.

Atmosphere- This is a Hockey Bar. There's almost always a hockey game on any one of the TVs in the place, and they even have that old-school hockey game under the big acrylic dome which is akin to Foosball... but this is not to say that the Stackhouse is not a great beer bar either! Amidst the hockey-themed wall art, you will find just as much (if not more) breweriana. Sometimes the bar can be quiet, but sometimes it can be jam-packed. The big open floor plan and seating arrangements make it ideal for small groups and large groups alike.

Quality- The folks at the Stackhouse care very much about their beer. It is kept at a reasonable temperature, served in appropriate glassware, and their draught lines always seem impeccably clean.

Service- The staff knows their beer well enough. More importantly, they have a good ratio of bartenders to patrons, and they are friendly and quick.

Selection- Their selection is, indeed, outstanding. The don't have the most taps in town; they don't have the largest bottle selection in town; but they clearly put a lot of thought in their purchasing. The bar is craft-beer-centric, and always has a wide range of styles on tap... and world-class examples of those styles to boot! I have never been let down by their selection...

Food- You would never guess how good the food is by the looks of the place. The Stackhouse produces some of the best food in the city (bold statement I must admit, but I stand by it). There's one sandwich in particular- "The Dom"- that is just OUTSTANDING.

Value- Everything is very reasonably priced for what you get here. Overall, the Stackhouse is rapidly becoming a player in the Baltimore beer market, and it just keep getting better. I recommend this place for anyone visiting Baltimore.

OK, the "perfect score" prior review is absolutely absurd (IMHO), but regardless, this is an outstanding place, and represents another excellent beer hot spot destination just off of Canton Square.

Stackhouse is another one of those places that has you wondering what it was like in a previous life. It's not particularly large, something that is accentuated by the low ceilings inside. There's a fairly decent size dining area in the back, with tables and chairs that look as if they might have been obtained from a school garage sale. In short, the vibe here is very low key and informal, which makes the incredible beer selection seem all the more, um, incredible. There is also a good size wrap around bar that takes center stage in the restaurant, and I counted 6 flat screen TV's strategically located around the bar area and dining room (pretty much mandatory in this sports and football crazed part of town).

In terms of the beer selection, it was jaw droppingly awesome the day I stopped in. Stackhouse advertises 36 draft lines (one cider, with everything else craft and imports), and on this day 28 of those tap lines were pouring Belgian beers. The selection was just excellent, and included things like Duchesse de Bourgone, Palm, St. Bernardus trippel and 12, Chouffe Houblon and Malheur 12. Non Belgian options included the Green Flash West Coast IPA and Weyerbacher pumpkin ale. I think they have a decent bottle selection as well here, but given the quality of the tap lines, I gave the bottle selection no more than a passing glance.

As for service, it's kind of difficult to describe. Everything I ordered came fairly quickly, and everyone was polite and pleasant, but it was hard not to get the impression that most of the staff wished they were some place else. I didn't really see any attempt to engage or socialize with the customers, even though several folks commented about the outstanding draft selection (me included). It tended to give the restaurant something of a cold, slightly distant vibe.

As for food, I ordered the crab pizza. While not poisonous, it was pretty mundane and not particularly flavorful. There wasn't a whole lot of crab on it from what I could tell, and what was on the pizza was pretty flavorless. I'll defintely order something different next time I visit (and possibly upgrade the food score then).

Pricing, I thought, was reasonable, bordering on cheap. Prices were in the $7 range for most of the Belgians on the menu, but if you come by during happy hour (which runs until 7:00 during the week I believe), they knock $2 off the price of everything on the menu. So my glass of Duchesse De Bourgone and Chouffe Houblon set me back just over $10, and my pizza was in the $10 range. Not bad at all for a night out on a Friday evening.

All things considered, I really liked this "new to me" place and I'll definitely be back. I should add that it's just a block down the street from Mahaffey's, so one can do a mini pub crawl without having to move the car (a definite plus on weekend evenings in this part of town).

Along with Max's, Alewife and Mahaffey's, I would rate this as one of the top beer spot destinations in town. This place is recommended.

2/12/12 edit. Wish I could find some reason to up the score for this place, as the beer selection is THAT good. However, got an order of the wings, and the food definitely doesn't merit much of a bump. Likewise, atmosphere is never going to be this place's strong suit (at least the place is clean!). Service is better, but seems to depend on who's working on any given day. Sometimes it's great (when the owner/manager is here), while other times it's hardly anything to write home about. On the other hand... the prices here are just so good (for what you get), I feel as if I have to note that in the my review. I'm here on a Saturday, and up until 5:00, Belgians are in the $5 range, and my order of wings (10 of them) was $5. Once I learned they had complimentary wifi, I decided I'd hang our here rather than heading over to Max's. Yes, the beer selection here is THAT good.

Increasingly, I now find myself coming here all the time (excellent beer at more than fair prices will do that to you).
