Was lucky enough to get a preview of this new offering from Urban Chestnut on tap at Bier Station in Kansas City before they debut it "officially" at their three year anniversary party and new bierhall opening on January 26th. Served in a small Belgian-style tulip glass.

Appearance - Body pours a hazy saffron yellow with brighter golden highlights, bringing to mind bright sunshine on a fogg day. Atop the body is a fairly minimal head, less than a finger thick and the color of bright white. Dissipates rather quickly into a rim of white foam around the edge of the glass and a slight wafting of film across the top of the liquid. Lacing is visible but subdued, with some places where there are noticeable spots, then other parts of the glass that are pretty clear.

Smell - Nice mix of jammy, fruity characteristics like peach, nectarine and apricot, alongside a nice musty wood funk from the barrels that I presume this beer is aged in. Some fainter notes of vinegar as well as a pleasant hint at the forthcoming tartness of the taste. I also get a hint of the spiciness like you expect from Belgian yeast.

Taste - It does not disappoint after the preview of the aroma. A nice presence of tart peach and some hints at citrus and lemon zest, along with a slightly puckering sourness. The wood continues to provide a fantastic backbone for the more sweet-leaning fruit phenols like ripe, fresh-picked peaches. I taste this beer and it makes me wonder how peach lambics aren't more common, because peach is a fruit that seems to fit well with the style, much like cherries do for kriek lambics.

Mouthfeel - Light-bodied overall, with a low-to-moderate amount of carbonation and a dry, slightly puckering finish.

Overall, this is the second offering I've had from Urban Chestnut and it's the second time I've been really impressed. This brew manages to be tart without overpowering, but not sweet and fruity, exhibiting great balance. I really hope they decide to release this one in bottles, because I could see it becoming a regular go-to beer when I'm in the mood for something on the sour end of the spectrum.

Gold in color with excellent clarity. No head, but there's plenty of carbonation bubbles erupting from within. Aroma is a combination of apples, peaches, champagne, and light crackery malt. The taste is a blend of peach, pear, and lactic acid. The mouth is very heavy, dry, and highly carbonated.

Got bottles from the brewery. Pours with a 1 finger head that dies in 10 seconds; not carbonated enough and even swirling glass doesn't help. Smell of peaches, malt, medicinal facility and old folks home. PH isn't low enough and doesn't have that sharp tongue tingling bite the style normally has. I really want this beer to be good but it isn't. It is not even "OK" and is simply bad. Flavors are muted and nothing shines out well. Peaches are in there but the beer is a mess and ends up tasting like piss. Will pawn off remaining bottles to unsuspecting people. Not worth drinking

I actually thought this was going to be a dark beer, so it was a complete surprise when it poured a clear light gold liquid with a loud white fizz that instantly died down to absolutely nothing.

Smell is slightly tart peach cobbler with hints of amaretto and softened mixed nuts.

Taste is a little more acidic than aroma but still in the tart and not quite sour realm, with a little spicy, earthy or almost smokey like Brett character, even if it wasn't intentionally used. I'm tasting peach and raspberry jam, homemade and with some age on it, plus a hint of oak or toffee influenced whiskey. Actually there's a prune taste in there as it warms.

Feel is lightly frothy, yet crisp with a semi-dry finish.

Pours a frosted straw color with barely half a finger of white fizzy head forming on top. Be careful not to blink, as the head disappears nearly instantly, with no lacing left behind. Aroma is a muddled mess of peaches, barrel, and sour funk. Nothing really stands out. Flavor profile is a smidge better, with notes of peaches, barrel, banana, clove, and spicy Belgian yeast esters. Mouth feel is thin, and fizzy. It's neigh on smooth or experience-oriented. Overall, not really worth trying. It's okay. The barrel aging really flattened it, which is strange considering how fizzy it feels. Lackluster aroma and flavor profile though.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Pours a clear golden color. 1/5 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of peach, bacterial funk, pale malt, slight alcohol, hint of lemon, and a hint of floral. Fits the style of a Lambic - Fruit. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, pale malt, peach, clove, slight bacterial funk, hint of yeast, hint of earthiness, slight hop, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, more malty than I'm accustomed to for a Lambic leading to a complex body and aroma. The aroma and body are so dissimilar as to be astonishing. Poor appearance, but great body and aroma.

A completely clear, bottle fermented beer...golden yellow in hue with a negligible head. The smell has a chardonnay-like wood and char scent, backed with very subtle fruit. Peach. Refreshingly tart....bordering on sour, with a little bret and belgian yeast flavor. Bitter in the finish, and enjoyable.

Pours a bright clear crisp gold. Similar to the color of peach flesh. Thin white head dissipated almost as quickly as it appeared. Effervescent appearance as you drink it with tons of bubbles coursing upwards throughout.

Smell is funky with some wood character coming through. Some peppery yeast on the nose. Very dry on the nose with almost no hints of peach or fruit.

Taste has some immediate funk with some tart not sweet at all peach flavor. Mild peppery yeast is present on the finish. Not a ton of peach flavor in this one, its there, just not a lot. No sweetness in this and its very dry. has a bit of a metallic aftertaste. The malt really shines through - lots of bread and cracker malts - perhaps a bit too much.

Feel is mild carbonation up front, bone dry finish, so dry its almost bitter.

Overall a good beer, but nothing special.
