6/14/17: 1 Pint 9 Ounces poured into large beer stein, gift from brother. Cloudy tan copper pour, generous thick cloudy head. Strong hops aroma, and taste pleasant and bitter. Firm mouth feel, carbonation holds. Overall very good beer.

A mix of piney, citrusy and tropical hop aroma and flavors. Copper to orange in color. Big malt backbone that leads to a creamy mouthfeel. Moderate bitteeness. Resin and dry finish.

On trip to Iowa PSU football game we stayed in Quincy IL. Nice looking town! We went to a locally owned Restaurant called the Abbey and I had the Urban Chestnut on draft.
It poured a rich copper color with a scant head that fizzled out fairly quickly. The initial feel was that it was very much like an IPA. Citrus aromas and some bitter hops
Also had some creamyness that provided a smooth easy drinking brew
T: like the nose, nice citrus hops with only slight bitterness
I had with a dinner of wings and fries and all was good!

Bright clear light Orange, excellent lacing. Smell is floral, sweet citrus. Taste is lightly malt and heavier on the hops, but not too bitter. Very nice. Not a typical ipa where they seem to overpower on the hops. I like this take better

Poured from a 16oz can into a nonic pint glass. This IPA pours a clear Amber color, with a nice white head that has good retention. There is some lacing along the glass. Overall, this isn't a bad looking beer.

The smell is citrusy, bitter hops, and sweet caramel malts.

The taste follows the nose, with grapefruit, citrus rind, and hop bitterness up front, complemented by a sweet malt presence.

The mouth feel is crisp, medium-light bodied, with medium carbonation.

Ultimately, this is a decent IPA. Nothing mind-blowing, not super complex, but still a crisp, tasty beer.

not going to change the world this one, it doesnt offer anything new at all, but it sure is a nice ipa, i think beautifully done to the west coast style, and honestly pretty darn spot on, despite being reminiscent of other tasty ipas. the can is great, one of those new fangled peel the whole top off and drink from the can, pretty neat. i can see a nice little head in there, and my nostrils come alive with juicy northwestern hop notes of fresh cut grapefruit and pine bitterness. first sip matches the nose, but as it warms up, a bit of a honey malt body and sweet trace become evident, and by the end its real balanced, almost too much of that aspect, the colder the better in my experience. it tastes real fresh, and has a great juicy bitter oily trifecta happening, well dosed and high quality hops for sure. it feels a little more substantial than it actually is, the abv ends up right in my personal wheelhouse for the style, so all good there. neat to see these guys moving to the cans, they look good and the beer tastes fresh as can be. i really enjoyed this with some quality saint louis bbq! bold enough for the smoke and heat, not too heavy for the filling meats. in that context its well better than its ratings here...

Hazy orange color with thick white head. Nose oranges, floral hops, toffee. Taste resin, grapefruit, ,melon, tangerine, caramel malts. Lingering finish. This is a decent ipa from Urban. Not too over the top with the hops. I prefer their other ipa better but could drink these all day.

Pours a rusty copper brown with a cape of white head that quickly disappears. Floral, citrus hops, coconut, and bread dough take over the nose. Hop forward on the palate but quickly gives way to layers of bready, biscuity flavor. Not well balanced and overall a bit flat for me.

Golden copper hued orange. Off white head.

Malty and bready. Caramel. Tropical fruits. Grapefruit and Papaya. This is definitely a Midwest IPA.

Medium bodied with some stickiness.

Solid, but too malty for me.

Moderately opaque copper body, rocky sandy head, good streams of carbonation. Nose is juicy orange with a good acidic and bitter bite, opposed by toasty biscuit grain. The taste is a clash between orange juice concentrate and caramel-bread crust malt. It's concurrently juicy, fruity, bitter, and grainy, not in a good mixture. Both the hops and grain are monotrack, and don't mix well either. Full flavored, at least. Body is medium, a little slick, with the occasional chewy heap of froth passing through like seafoam.
Brings the character, even if it doesn't commingle well. I didn't care for the lack of variety of flavors, but it does remind me of another highly nation-wide respected beer.

F: easy drinking and smooth. Doesn't finish dry or bitter

Aroma is pine, caramel/toffee, malts and medium sweetness. The flavor is grapefruit, spices, malts, hops, tea, and a long and very bitter/dryish finish.

I was not a fan of this beer....not sure if it was a bad bottle or what?? It poured a clear orange with white head that did not lace. The scent was bitter with touches of fruit. The taste was not well balanced, very sweet up front and then turned bittery. The mouthfeel was medium in body with subtle carbonation. Overall I didn't like it....however, if I get the chance to try it again I will.

Bottle from gregwilsonstl, thanks!
Mostly clear deep golden with a frothy bubbly off white head that persists forever. Bready caramel maltiness with come citrus and pine to counter. Pretty tasty.

This was a really nice, easily drinkable IPA. Floral, fruity, malty, and a very slight bitterness. This may be one of the most drinkable IPA's I have ever had. Not necessarily the best I have ever had, but the most drinkable. You could easily throw back a couple pints of this, which could be troublesome with it's decent ABV.

500mL bottle into a small pint glass (multiple pours)

A - Frothy, almost slightly creamy off white colored head that dissipates moderately slowly. Beer itself is a on the copper side of orange and cloudy. Well carbonated based on quickly rising bubbles and amount of bubbles. 3.75/5

S - Grapefruit, lemon, and citrus right up front. A bit of sourdough bread maltiness as well. Very fruity and floral aroma. As the beer warms there is a bit of over-caramelized sugar aroma that comes through. 3.75/5

T - Bitter up front, bitter middle, and bitter finish that lingers. Loaded with hops but also has a slight fruity sweetness as well that somewhat balances the bitterness. Citrus is very prevalent with a bit of citrus rind as well and a trace of pine. Citrus is strong enough that it lends itself to being a bit tart. A hint of molasses is present in the malt. Malt is a bit doughy, more on the sourdough side of things. Slightly peppery on the finish. 4/5

M - Drying astringency on the back end that is preceded by a surprising chewiness to the mouthfeel. Overall beer is a medium bodied beer with a medium-heavy front and medium-light finish. Moderate carbonation burn. 3.5/5

O - Nice citrus based pale ale offering here. Nice array of flavors to keep the palate busy. Good beer for a warm day and pairs well with spicy food (i.e. curry or turmeric & allspice spiced chicken) 3.75/5

Pours nice creamy foamy head fades slowly with nice lacing, hazy sediment candy orange color.

Nose sweet candy malt, reddish toasty malts, orange candy, mild spicy earthy, mild stone fruit jam, candied orange peel mostly.

Taste brings more sweet malt, caramel candy, sweet candied orange peel, mild earthy spicy hops, fruity stone fruit jam again, little herbal earthy grassy hop, quite bitter. Mild sticky sweet finish, fair bitterness.

look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Looks the part, with a full three fingers on top of the amber colored liquid; great stickage and clumps of lacing

Smell: Floral and vinous, with undertones of pineapple

Taste: Malt forward, with caramel and bready tones; the resinous and vinous hop flavors build considerably through the middle and the finish is really quite bitter

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Looked great, smelled very good but the downfall was on the tastebuds; maybe it is the combination of Cascade, Nelson Sauvin and Amarillo that is the problem; just not the kind of profile I seek out in an IPA; much prefer their STLIPA and the German brews

Appearance: It poured a copper color with thick, off-white head into a pint glass. The 2 fingers of head had great retention and lacing.

Smell: The citrus hops are definitely there, along with some sweet malt. There are also traces of pine and caramel.

Taste: Like the smell, the citrus is front and center; definite grapefruit and some orange peel. There are also hints of grassy hops, sweet malt, and a little spice.

Mouth: The body is medium and the carbonation is low. There’s a slight bitterness to it, but overall it’s a balanced beer.

Overall: This is an easy drinking IPA; nothing earth shattering, but also not overly complex. If you are looking to expand your taste into IPAs, this a good place to start.

Appearance: Light brown with a slight haze, and a thick white foam head with nice lacing. About 17-18 SRM, definitely darker than traditional IPA. Aroma: typical grapefruit and pine resinous hop aroma. A hint of pineapple as well. Taste: Deep malt sweetness with some toast and caramel notes. Gives way to a really mild hop bitterness with pine notes. Citrus hop character doesn’t really show up in the taste, which is strangely malt forward. Mouthfeel: Moderate to heavy for style, with a light-moderate carbonation. Finish: Resinous, sticky character lingers on the tongue with bitterness. Overall: Good beer, but far from a west coast IPA. Too dark in color, too malt forward in flavor, drowning out what should be an intense bit

Pours a murky ice tea in color with a thumb of sand colored head. Never clears, great lacing & good head retention

S: Pears, a little pine & grapefruit. All fade over time

T: Grapefruit, pineapple, breadyness, orange peel & leafy hops. I pick up a little peach & pear along with grassy hops as this warms, some grapefruit pith & orange peel. Finishes with leafy hops, grapefruit & dryness, just a bit of tangerine as well

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, decent balance

A decent IPA, nothing to get exited about. These guys do a much better job with German Style beers, drink easy enough I guess

Dark amber in color with a thick and stable head, this is a clean and spicy brew. The flavor is of herbal hops, with a decidedly malty note. Balanced...with lots of hops in the mid-taste. Full in body. Nice brew.

Pours a clear, copper color. One inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of piney hops, hint of citrus hops, slight pine, sweet malt, hint of rye, hint of caramel malt, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of piney hops, hint of citrus hops, resin, sweet malt, hint of pale malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of earthy malt. Overall, great blend, not too bitter, good body, appearance, and decent aroma.

Pours a hazy dark reddish orange, fluffy head of creamy eggshell foam that leaves behind plenty of sticky sudsy lacing. Surface has a sparkle to the bubbles when first poured.

Aroma is grassy with a mild spicy hop component, noticeable malt sweetness.

Taste is a bit more interesting, grassy bitterness and melon come through and linger on the palate momentarily. Body is medium but light enough to quaff. Some minor woody spice from the hops. Overall it's interesting to try and well made, but i'm not sure this is really charting any new territory.

Not a bad looking beer. However it is a mediocre beer.

Appearance: Nice amber color. Decent amount of head.

Aroma: Not as hoppy and resinous one would espect from what it looks like

Taste: benign not too hoppy as one would expect its a basic IPA in that regard. Not a very entertaining IPA in that regard. Some reason bu not much more than that.

Feel: it s a pretty basic IPA some of the bigger outfits have stuff that are just as good.

Overall: This is much like the rest of them. Its pretty boring in regard to a West Coast IPA. Would I seek it out, not really.
