Brownish black with two fingers of tan foam. Smells of roasted malt, mild wet earth, dark yeast and general dark fruit. Taste stars dark fruit, mostly date honestly, upfront. Mild roast with hints of barley and dark yeast finish. Lighter and maltier but not that earthy or roasty, smooth and dries out through the sip

Beer pours a very dark cola brown color with a decent bit of pillowy dark tan head. that recedes to a thick, but even layer on the top. Aroma is dominated by roasted and burnt malts. Dark malty flavors with an even balance of roasty and burnt notes, along with dark fruit and a little sweetness. Hops step in at the end for a moderate biterness that perhaps overstays its welcome a little bit. Medium body and a low carbonation feel.
Good beer, but likely won't purchase again. Needs a better hop balance.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of coffee, roasted malt, toffee and chocolate. Sweet chocolate, toffee, caramel and a mild coffee bitterness.

Released November 2022; drank 1/1/23 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice khaki head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Black licorice, mild dill pickle, booze heat & faint cream notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Black licorice & faint cream flavors up front; mild dill pickle notes on the finish.
A bit abrasive, but ultimately drinkable. Not one I'll return to.
