the masses (my mates in st. louis) have been raving about this one for ages, time to dig in. this baby pours a conventional hefe looking cloudy bright yellow/orange color with a 2 inch white head that lasts the whole time. smells like a banana cream pie, with loads of fresh bananas and vanilla, some spice in there too, soft pepper and clove, traditional but somehow more fresh and humming. flavor is equally vibrant. tons of fruit and spice intermixing. its sweet but only for a second, then citrus and clove come in, vanilla in the finish. excellent character given to the beer by the yeast, its light and airy in the mouth, well carbonated to say the least, with more body than usual for the style, which absolutely makes this for me. creamy but dry, rich but crushable, the perfect texture for such a beer. a delicious brew, majorly sessionable. dying for my next one already. worth the hype. this has become a poplar brand for them and it makes total sense why, both traditional and flawlessly executed. the best beers in here i think are this and the pils. both incredibly good!

Hazy yellow straw in color. A fingernail of white foam rests on top. Banana ester aroma is very compelling. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for me. The taste starts of with the wheat and banana flavoring. The finish is brisk, but fulfilling. I like the look and the aroma but that felt like a tease.

Had a bottle at Astoria Bier & Cheese. Overall, a smoother and more subtle hefe but it hits all the right notes. Reminds me of Sierra Nevada Kellerweis, but it's lighter on the clove.

Pours a slightly hazed gold with 1" of eggshell colored head (vigorous pour). No head retention or lacing

S: Cloves & green banana

T: Follows the nose, some ripe banana, white grapes & pears along some juicy fruit up front. More juicy fruit & pears, plus a little tartness & dryness as this warms, green banana & cloves as well. Finishes with some dryness, juicy fruit & cloves

MF: Medium bodied with lively carbonation

Easy drinker, fairly spot on for the style, easily the best beer I've had from these guys

Poured from 500 ml bottle into nonic pint. No visible bottle date.

A: Pours light yellow with 2-3 finger soapy white head that settles quickly to a thin cap. Some light lacing.

S: Banana, clove, nutmeg, bubblegum, and cracker malts.

T: Bready malts with a hint of banana sweetness. Some grassy funk, and faint spices - clove, and nutmeg. I get a little bubblegum flavor in the finish,

M: Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. I was expecting it to be a light lighter.

O: Easy drinking nice beer. I might have preferred the spices to be a bit more pronounced, but enjoyable still.

500ml bottle into a pint glass

A - Creamy and somewhat frothy white head that dissipates slowly. Cloudy golden beer with slow rising carbonation. Moderately carbonated. 4.25/5

S - Banana and clove really stand out in the aroma. Also present are a light lemony citrus note and a bit of sourdough bread. 4.25/5

T - Lemony citrus right off the bat transitioning to clove and then to very strong banana ester. A bit of sourdough bread with herbal hops on the back end. 4/5

M - Medium bodied but also somewhat crisp. Flavor leaves the palate somewhat quickly but light and smooth mouthfeel remains. Light to moderate carbonation. 3.75/5

O - Excellent hefeweizen offering from Urban Chestnut here. Very strong on banana and clove with a bit lighter than normal body. Very true to tradition. Low on ABV but high on flavor. 4/5
