Nose of banana which is strong. Cloudy yellow color. Taste like banana and spice. Clean finish. This is a big miss for me. I'm a big fan of urban chestnut but this is not my taste. Too fruity with all the banana flavor.

A- A cloudy pour from the 500ml into a small becher with a tiny white cap. The frothy head falls fast and lacing is very rare.

S- Fairly mild and straightforward. Hints of banana, apple, pear, pepper, pils grain, bread and vanilla sweets.

T- Follows the nose again with a spicy approach and mild grains. Pears, apple, slight tart lemon zest, corianer, pink peppercorn, raw pils grains, wheat bread, vanilla sweetness, clove and phenolics. Spicy hops.

MF- Smooth and silky body. It lands with a medium thickness and high end carbonation. Zesty lighy bitter ending.

Profile is mostly about the pale fruit esters and a spice from the yeast and hops. Mild and the fruits are a bit much for the style.

500mL bottle
A - very thin white head dissipates quickly atop a hazy pale golden colored ale
S - typical hefe nose with clove, banana, cracked wheat, yeast, faint lemon pith
T - wheat, yeast, banana, clove, bubblegum, earthy hops
M - thinner body, moderate carbonation, finishes slightly tart and fairly crisp
O - good American version of a great German style, but I prefer some of the traditional German brewed ones more.

I cannot distinguish the bottled on date, bummer...

A: Pours a slightly hazed golden/yellow color. At first a bubbly and creamy looking white cap forms, but recedes in a moment. Not much lace.
S: Yeast, esters of banana and clove. Pale and cracker like malts. Enjoyable, but a bit muted.
T: Like the nose, it seems fairly muted. Cracker and bread like malts. Peppery, almost phenolic like yeast. Banana esters as well. Everything is there, it just does not have the umpth for me.
M/O: A light to medium body. Crisp and effervescent carbonation that is smooth at the same time. Really easy to drink, goes down smooth and can see me coming back from time to time.

I can see were the bottled on date would be, but cannot make it out. The muted character here has me to believe it is an old bottle. Hopefully I can find a fresher four pack one of these days and update, cause I feel this could be incredible fresh. As is enjoyable enough to drink anyway.

The first in a series of beers drank during a get together the other night at a friends house. Side poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance - I do like the packaging, name is unique, should be interesting. Pours a very light, hazy yellow with a nice, two finger head that leaves a bit of lacing and hangs around for a couple of minutes.

Smell - Has your standard hefeweizen characteristics of crackers and a bit of fruitiness. There was a strong banana esters, phenols, and clove smell to it as well, making it unmistakable as to what they were going for.

Taste - Underwhelming, to say the least. The banana and cloves are certainly present, and it has a decent bready balance to it, but it just wasn't all there to me. There is a little bit of spice in there as well.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied, finishes clean and smooth. I liked this part of the beer probably the best. Went down real easy. Finished with a zip of clove and pepper.

Overall - This isn't a bad beer, but it certainly isn't anything to go pay a premium price for either. There are plenty of other good weizens out there for the same money. It was just a little underwhelming, felt like there was something missing. Condor recommended and approved, but I wouldn't make a special trip to the store for it.

Hazy yellow straw in color. A fingernail of white foam rests on top. Banana ester aroma is very compelling. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for me. The taste starts of with the wheat and banana flavoring. The finish is brisk, but fulfilling. I like the look and the aroma but that felt like a tease.

Pours a hazy pale straw. Haze dissipates some but not completely. Very small whitish head which disappears immediately. Continuous stream of bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass.

Banana is the main smell I notice. Some clove and straw as well. Not much going on here.

Banana again for the flavor. A bit of clove, lemon, and orange. A bit of cream and vanilla at the end.

Nice moderate to medium mouth feel. Some crispness from the carbonation which is medium+. Smooth and easy drinking with no alcohol presence.

Decent German-style wheat beer. Definitely a beer you could drink multiple of. Needs more oomph in the nose.

Pours an opaque fiery yellow with a medium-sized off-white head. Head retention is fair to poor, with no lacing left behind. Aroma is a whirlpool of cloves, banana, Belgian yeast spice, and a little grass hop. The flavor profile is very much cloves, banana, and a twinge of Belgian yeast spice. Very simplistic. Mouth feel is smooth, although thin. It thins out as it warms as well. Overall, a very fine beer. I'm drinking it on the screened-in patio. It's 82*F out, and this beer feels like a nice fit.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Rediculously large white bubbly head, and a little too clear and straw in color vs. the traditional cloudy yellow orange. Smells like a decent and almost authentic German like weissbier with a good blend of banana, spice, and bubblegum that carries to the flavor. Way too much carbonation on this one that leads too a spritzy feel. Overall decent, but would love during a heat wave if it were a tad smoother. Prost!

Poured from 500 ml bottle into nonic pint. No visible bottle date.

A: Pours light yellow with 2-3 finger soapy white head that settles quickly to a thin cap. Some light lacing.

S: Banana, clove, nutmeg, bubblegum, and cracker malts.

T: Bready malts with a hint of banana sweetness. Some grassy funk, and faint spices - clove, and nutmeg. I get a little bubblegum flavor in the finish,

M: Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. I was expecting it to be a light lighter.

O: Easy drinking nice beer. I might have preferred the spices to be a bit more pronounced, but enjoyable still.

This was pretty good, but not the best of the style. It just seems like it is currently about 7/10 of what this style should be. If you want a milder version, this would be it.

look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Pours like a hefe should, with a massive head topping the hazy goldenstraw liquid; sticks like a champ and leaves clumpy lacing

Smell: Wheat bread tang, vanilla, bubblegum and green banana

Taste: Wheat bread with a tart edge, with the vanilla influence becoming rather distinct; bubblegum develops in the middle, along with the green banana tones; grassy elements arrive after the swallow

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This beer has all of the elements of a classic hefe and then some but I can't say that I am really enjoying it; I don't like the mouthfeel and it lacks the clove character to complement the fruity esters

Pale gold with a solid white head that disappears quickly. Nose is pretty faint but there's the standard banana, clove, and breadiness. The taste has those exact same qualities but in a far more prominent way, especially the clove and bread, though it's not over the top. Feel is pretty light and crisp, even for a hefeweizen. Nice to see an American brewery doing a good job on the German styles.

Urban chestnut brewing company stopped for lunch at schlafly but was closed. They directed us here. Beer is cloudy with lacy white head. Bright yellow, lightly carbonated. Clove dominates aroma, with touch of citrus to balance. Tangy citrus- lemon - some clove and quite a bit of yeast. Chewy but light body, pleasantly palate cleansing and refreshing. Etoh mild. Finish with touch of green banana.

S: Moderate aromas of banana and clove from the yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of wheat.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has nice aromas and flavors imparted by the yeast and is a classic representing of the style.

L: Straw gold color that starts hazy but gets less hazy as it warms up. Creamy white head that dissipates quickly.

S: Banana and clove are up front with a light breadlines in the background. Nothing complex but smells like a Hefeweizen.

T: Banana and clove up front, with the light breadlines in the background.

F: Body is a little light and watery for the style.

O: Overall other than the mouthfeel, this is a solid Hefeweizen.

I've had this beer several times, both in bottle and draft. Tonight, I had it on draft while out with my wife in St. Charles. I think it's much better on tap...the appearance: a cloudy, straw yellow, almost light-orange color with a thick white head. The aroma is lightly of fruit and clove, with a bit of yeast. The taste is moderately sweet, with a soft mouthfeel. Medium in body and very easy to drink.

Unfortunately had a fairly old bottle. Bottled on 4/30/2015. The look was hazy pale yellow like straw. The head was light and airy but did not last. Very minimal lacing. Clove dominated the aroma with banana and some bready wheat character. Taste was similar with slight lemon and pear fruitiness. An earthy spice came through as it warmed a bit. Mouthfeel is light and crisp but yet has a mouth coating slickness to it. A very good hefeweizen. Will have to get a bottle that is fresher.

On tap at Bru. Pale yellow, with a white, lacing head. The nose is a restrained, almost closed off. The taste opens up nicely, with wheat coupled with strong elements of fruit and a subtle nutty spice. Restrained, but pretty tasty.

A- Pours a very hazy, very light yellow hue. Classic hefeweizen look in the glass. Lots of carbonation, with a sizeable head that lasts a good long while. Good lacing, but the most distinctive part of this beer is the classic, hazy yellow appearance.

S- Light with big wheat and spice notes are the dominant characteristics of this beer's smell. Not as spicy as other hefe's, but there is plenty to go around. Banana spice scent is also fairly strong. Clove and coriander scents, with maybe a very slight hint of pepper going on in there too.

T- Just like the scent, starting with the spices and banana flavors. The pepper flavor comes in stronger in the taste than the scent, providing a slight bite to the flavor. The spices in this are more mellowed with the light wheat flavors, giving this a more balanced flavor than most hefe's. The end of this beer lingers with hints of both wheat and spices on the tongue.

M- Light and one of the most carbonated beers I've ever had. Feel, as far as weight goes, is very light, and reminds me of an easy drinking Berliner weiss. This is definitely a beer in line with the smooth German styles, just with a little more carbonation to make you think twice.

Overall, an above average hefeweizen that is a little more balanced than most. The spices being mellowed out is a really positive aspect to me for this beer.

Had a bottle at Astoria Bier & Cheese. Overall, a smoother and more subtle hefe but it hits all the right notes. Reminds me of Sierra Nevada Kellerweis, but it's lighter on the clove.
