Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is clean, malts, lemons. Taste is the same. Malts, lemons, adjunct free and easy drinking. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall would probably be better appreciated on a hot summer day.

Appearance is a cloudy golden with a frothy white foam cap that dissipated quickly. Aroma is all pilsner malt, with no noticeable hop aroma. Taste is a bready pilsner malt with a moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to thick for the style, with a slight creaminess and moderate carbonation. Finishes clean and crisp with a slight residual bitterness. Reminiscent of a Helles, but with a creaminess from the unfiltered, bottle conditioned beer

this is a style we do not see nearly enough of in american craft brewing, and now that these are in handy cans, they are starting to show up all over the place. good for these guys, they have earned it! looks like a hefeweizen in the glass, maybe a little less yellow, paler. great white head on it, lots of visible carbonation even through the haze. flavor is fresh and malty, with likely some wheat here in with the pale barley. very european in terms of is grain composition, and also being influenced pretty seriously by the yeast here. its not quite fruity, but it is pretty classically german, its almost like a mix of a hefe and a lager, with some light spice to it and a crisp dryness. very little hops are evident here at all, and the beer is brightly carbonates, lower alcohol, and extremely refreshing without being boring when its ice cold. a fantastic session beer, great with a diverse range of foods, and something a little different than we are used to seeing, especially in american craft. the nuances of the style, as it was traditionally brewed, appear to be about fully present in this, i think its a great interpretation.

A: [3.50] This can has no info. No date no ABV. The beer itself forms 3 fingers of FAT and dense white head. The head is totally uniform. The beer is a murky lemonade color.

S: [2.75] Something herbal and pungent. Early on there was something that reminded me of melting plastic but it faded.

T: [2.75] Corn, bread, some mild clove (deeper on the aftertaste and again it comes across as something plastic).

M: [3.50] Nice crisp body and carbonation.

O: [2.75] Every 3rd sniff/sip the yeast goes from clove to something synthetic and bad. I found drinking from the can helped (due to smelling the beer less). Maybe this is a bad batch? I am not a huge fan at all.

I like what these guys are doing with traditional German styles. This Zwickel was on par with some of the ones I had in Bavaria. Getting some hay, digestives and lemon banana flavors. Taste follows similarly with a nice lingering malt + lemon zest + hop flavor. As this warms up the lemon hay aroma becomes more prevalent.

This is a delicious version of a Zwickel. A style I wish more American breweries would make.

First offering I've had from Urban Chestnut. Picked this up at AJ's Beer Warehouse.

Fluffy white head on top of a pale golden body. Medium haze and mild carbonation. Sweet aroma of mostly grain. Doughy. Peppery hops up front with a mild citrus rind bite in the middle through the finish. Sweet doughy taste as well. Pils malt more noticeable in the finish. Medium to medium heavy body.

A- Hazy golden yellow body into a pint glass. A small frothy white head makes it up to half finger with decent retention. Spotty lace.

S- Pale fruits and grains make up the aroma. Wheat crust, white grapes, apple, yeast bread, slight banana and herbal hops.

T- Very much bready and wheaty with pale fruits also playing a big part. Apple, banana, white grape, crusty fresh wheat bread, citrus zest, herbal hops and spicy hops. Fairly sweet fruit sugars feel.

MF- Smooth with a frothy and creamy texture. Very high carbonation.

Crisp and smooth brew with a base of pale fruits and wheat bread.

Can purchased at AJ's Beer Warehouse in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a clear golden orange, with a small head, and just a bit of lacing.

Smells like fruity and minerally yeast, bready malt, and grassy hops.

This is honestly one of my favorite styles (though I don't exactly know the different between a Zwickel and a Kellerbier?) The yeast character is killer, soft and fruity, almost berry-like, with some subtle stone fruit, too. The hop character is very mild, but just enough- a hint of grassiness on the finish, with very little bitterness. The malt is another star- it's bready, and evokes some sort of grainy and slightly sweet bread. I really dig this.

This is light bodied, and super, super drinkable.

This is an absolutely wonderful beer, and I'm really glad we're getting UC stuff now.

A well put together lager. This is definitely a clean and easy drinking european style lager. Almost every other review identifies how bready this is and I am not going to spoil the party - this really does have a major bready feel to it. Little bit of spice on the backend.

A - pours a murky orange with a thin cap of head that quickly dissipates.

S - German grains, malts, yeast, honey, bread dough.

T - Biscuity and doughy, mildly sweet, honey, grains, corny. Finishes bitter with a sweet after taste. Light to medium bodied, has a nice crisp feel.

O - Highly quaff-able lager that is worth a shot.

Notes - picked this up while visiting family in The Cape.
